Some Victorian autumnal finds.
    #14326346 - 04/21/11 04:41 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Just thought I'd share a few snaps from a couple of outings I have had over the past month or so.

The first group are from the Latrobe Valley in West Gippsland, Victoria. ID's are more than welcome, but I have no real info other than that they were all found adjacent to a main walking trail, growing out of dirt in most instances, in a highly wooded area, at around 500m elevation. These were found in early March in fairly humid conditions. These photos were taken on a camera phone and as such are not the best quality, but I figured I'd share with you guys anyway.

sp. 1

This one was about 5 inches across the cap, growing from a tree stump.

sp.2

I seem to remember this one having a bulbous stem base, although I could be wrong

sp.3

Terrible picture, I know. This species was very tiny.

This next group were all found in the Southern Grampians region of Western Victoria. All were found last weekend (17th April) after heavy rains followed by sunny days.

sp.4 Amanita muscaria

I must have seens 100s of these, right next to the road. My girlfriend loved them, as she was under the impression such mushrooms only existed in fairy tales and Super Mario Bros. :tongue2:

sp.5 Suillus luteus 'Slippery Jack'

Saw a few of these growing amongst the grass near the amanitas, under pine trees.

sp.6

No idea what this is. The cluster was beginning to rot, or had been attacked by bugs.

sp.7

I did have an idea at an ID for this, but have completely forgotten what it was, and left my field guide at my girlfriend's house.
