For storage,When cloning to petri dishes or test tubes do you let them grow out first b4 putting into fridge,or straight into fridge ?Newby starting out on agar,Cheers.

So they can still grow out being in the fridge at cooler temps, just starting out so dont really want to mess around with trial and error, but sometimes thats the only way, even when we got forums for help, cheers for that.MolecularConcept

Yeah its gonna grow a slower. That's what you want.  Most edibles and medicinals will. Tolerate the cold.  Some fungi dont. Idont know what your culturing but your probly okay.

For storage, let them grow for a few days before refrigerating.  When cloning, let them grow across a couple of petri dishes to ensure any contaminants have had a chance to show up and be isolated away from.

Ok,thanx for the replies,i thought cooler temps were for fruiting and higher temp for colonizing myc,im just started and still learning i suppose, will be doing shiitake, cant wait to get my first grains off the mycologist here and start producing.
Now ive heard its not good practice to split the grain up again from the lab, just use it for colonizing my substrate as it could weaken it?
