I too have stopped watching television regularly for about a year now, only time I watch is during dinner with my parents (its ALWAYS on during dinner, I feel dinner is the time to talk in depth with the family rather than listening to the news and how people are getting blown to bits in Iraq). Everything you want to know can be found on the net and be delivered to you in a less biased manner (of course if you u go to CNN.com you will be getting the same shite as on TV). When I move out on my own, I'm definately not gonna have cable, although i do miss those animal shows on the discovery channel.

Good for you, Chodamunky!

If they had ala carte service where I could get things like the Animal Channel I would get cable again. But, even though they know that would be a hit, they won't do it because they've got things to sell.

Too bad for them. I won't buy any of it if they think they need to shove that other shit down my throat.

So many people hating on TV. Yeah, most of the programs that air are total shite, but TV is a tool, and if it is used properly, then it can be very useful. That is, as a medium for information transmission, television is a great thing. Unfortunately, most of the information being transmitted is completely useless and temporally wasteful. As it stands now, TV is mostly being abused, and when you start abusing your tools, the tools break down, become useless and garbage.
