Chance of success is extrememly low. Theres a reason we cultivate the way we do.

most likely fail, now, if you added some grain into there, like on the top of the cake and shot spores onto that youd have a better chance, when the grain colonized, you shake the jar and disribute the grain. But then if your going to do all that you might as well make wronguy bags with a grain pocket or level. Ive done a bottom level of grain and a tope of compost and nnoced the grain side up with spores and it worked, but WJ is right, theres a reason we do it the way we do, efficiency and the fact that its a sure shot technique versus MAYBE having something work.

I read about a Thai mushroom that needs poo to colonize and you can make it into cakes by using the BRF tek but instead of 2-1-1 you do 1-1-1-1 verm/poo/water/brf. It might work with whatever you're trying but straw I haven't seen yet.

o well that changes this whole thing hahaha if ur using rye for spores then just do that and then pasteurize your straw poo mix and spawn the rye to that.

You almost need a PC to do grains bro. You might have to look up some grain teks without PC's. Try looking up Soap grain or grain without pc. You might need to do ALOT more reading to figure this one out cause I have never done grains without a PC, some people have had success with it but I dont even try, got a pc. Wally world has them for 40 bucks or so.

yeah i cant stress enough how important both of those are in this hobby. You really cant get buy doing grains consistently and well without a PC, even if u have to suck it up and get a shitty one at first its worth it. I had a 16 qt for my first one.
