yeah seriously.
It would seem that some dude in the credit card company would of thought of that loophole.
Then again, if you only do it occasionally, i'm pretty sure nobody would notice. Dont do it everyday though, somebody somewhere is gonna wake up and realise wha you are doing

My dad uses his business card to order stuff for his customers. Racks up thousands of points a week. He then pays off the balance almost instantly so there's little to no interest and he racks up TONS of points every year.
Enough for him to get free 2-3 day hotel stays at the beach pretty much every month.

back when interest was pretty good, it used to be worth while to screw over loans.
take out loan from bank and deposit in bank b then take out loan from bank b and deposit in bank a time then pay off both banks from loan money and keep interest
..or something like that but now not only do banks watch that shit but interest rates sucks

source? The only thing I can think of making it not feasable is WTF is the governemnt taking credit cards to pay for physical currency. In theory if that is happening they are are in more in the coohoots with banks than we want to know. (Which we already know WAY to much)

"The $1 coins, wrapped in rolls of 25, are available in quantities of $250 per box.
There is a 4-box $1 coin limit for every 10-day period on any and all $1 coin orders. Beyond that your credit card will not be authorized. If you need quantities greater than this, please send an e-mail before placing your order to directship@usmint.treas.gov to explain why your order should be exempted from the limit."
So you can max your credit card to $1000 every 10 days with the US mint, buy merchandise with the $1 coints as they are now circulated currency...return the merchandise and get dollar bills back and pay off the cc? Wowzers

I'm sure you can just take the coins right back to the bank and say they were a gift to a business but they changed their mind.
Money is money, and the program "intends" for it to be a certain way - but it doesn't indicate the illegality of not re-introducing it.

Paid off credit card with construction loan.

The only potential victim I can see here is the taxpayer. I assume the treasury has to pay a processing fee for accepting credit card payments and the money to pay that fee has to come from somewhere. Last I heard that fee is something around 3 percent for Visa and higher for AMEX.

There is a more obvious idea here: I have several 1% cash back cards.
I wonder if I could simply cycle through tens of thousands....I mean, I've put several 3k+ purchases on it and always gotten the 1%. I wonder how high I could go....

I read that and my question is..
"define immediate".
But by all means dont. Shops will gladly give you bills for your boxes of 250 coins because if it works in the US like it does in Holland, shops need to pay a fee to receive rolls of change.
Big turnover places would get you rid of it the quickest if thats the case, but momma/poppa stores would benefit the most.
So why not circulate them? Or put the boxes on eBay for $275 fixed price, you'll definitely have buyers.

You should also look into how the miles accumulate.
I recall that, at one point, I did the math and realized that "reward miles" were not all that lucrative. If you can only buy $1000 every 10 days (as someone said earlier), you probably aren't looking at more than $400-500 a year in free flights (if that).
I mean, free is free, but that isn't getting you very far.

DosileFlynn said: maybe im wrong then. i was fairly sure there was a period of 'no interest' on credit cards whereby if you pay before that date, then there is no interest to be paid on the purchase.
I've heard about it from friends as a way to gain freebies from credit cards and increase ones credit rating.
A lot of cards offer 0% APR for a year and then like a 4% transfer fee. So the idea is to move your balance to a new card before the 0% ends and only pay 4% transfer fee one time.
I'm not sure if it would be worth it to pay 4% to transfer the balance to a new card over and over for "free" miles. There may be some benefit though it would obviously depend on the specific numbers involved.
I know the coin thing is legit though. I'm not sure what the bank would do if they caught on, its not really illegal but they may try to put a stop to it if it was taken too far.
