mushrooms forming early

for my last 2 grows i used the golden teacher strain and after they fully colonized i went to give them the week to consolidate. well in that week tiny pins formed while still inside the jar...some were small...some were over 1 inch long and pressed against the glass. they grew into fine mushrooms but i just wonder why they are doing this and if i can avoid it. (they are kinda hard to get out the jar with all that pressure built against the glass) my 12 jars now are colonizing fast and already forming knots ...but the jars are'nt even fully colonized, should i keep them in darkness? ive read on here more than a dozen times it really doesnt matter if they incubate on a shelf and are exposed to some light...as of where they are now they are sitting on top of a dresser...foil off and exposed to very low sunlight (its a dark room)wondering if i should put them in a bin or a box or something.

Early invitro pinning can be influenced by bright direct light, but ordinary room light isn't an issue. Pinning before 100% likely indicates a contam. (Or really poor substrate prep, or some other exotic problem) Pinning at or after 100% is just eager pinning and is not a problem, though it may be inconvenient.
Tends to be a genetic trait IME, you can select away from it if you like.

True, mushrooms don't form until after full colonization.
What many new growers don't realize is that 'full colonization' means colonization of the available substrate. If bacteria has claimed part of your substrate, then full colonization is reached when the mycelium reaches the edge of the contaminant.
If they have mushrooms growing and no visible mold, ie green, then go ahead and birth the cakes. Rinse off any non-mycelium covered substrate under the faucet. RR

i think it has to do with the jars. i just prepped 12 jars 1 of which was a shorter fatter "wide-mouth" jar...that one took off slow but then one day i checked it out and it was damn near fully colonized...it was the first to be birthed and it is doing well in the terrarium. but ive noticed that the taller half pint jars colonize slower and the bottum part last. i usually get pinning in a 1 or 2 spots on my jars when they are fully colonized or have just a couple tiny slivers at the bottum left to colonize. also, it seems to me that a full week consolidation isnt needed. i seem to get pinning inside jars right at full colonization or just at around 99%...if i dont get pinning i let the jar consolidate for a few days. put my theory is if they have pins and knots then they are ready to come out

Yeah if you have knots, it's time to fruit. These days tho I lean towards removing real early fruitbodies to encourage a more even flush.
