Relaxed sleep

Can anyone advise on any naturally occurring substance which could help have a relaxed sleep?
I know many substances would make me have a profound sleep, but I don't want anything that will probably make me oversleep or wake up with any withdrawal symptoms. The thing is I have been having a lot of nightmares (about 5 a week) and I feel really distressed in them, ultimately I can't usually go back to sleep and I don't feel well rested
I heard about this pant Calea zacatechichi I had never heard of, any insights??

ya definately a melatonin with a little but only get the 1mg or 2mg and take 2mg the first time because a full 3 will make you drowsy the whole next day

Melatonin does wonders to help me. I would have horrid insomnia without it. Doesn't make me feel groggy in the morning at all.
Does this belong in the Psychedelic Experience, though?

you're suppose to work your way up. 2-3-5 or whatever but just popping a 5 won't feel great the next day. and ya this is probably not the best place for this thread...

I actually started with a hefty dose of 6mg, and realized it wasn't necessary, and dropped it to 3mg. Works great for me, but it didn't leave me groggy even at 6mg. There are lots of studies about how smaller doses are just as effective as larger ones.

sorry! I wondered if I should place it here, but since they say alkaloids, dosages, etc, I thought maybe it wouldn't be so misplaced, but move it to another if you feel it is.
About Calea I thought it could also give you pleasant dreams and not enhance what you already have.
I'll check valerian and melatonin then, thanks a lot!!

Melatonin was recommended by my Cognitive Sleep Therapist and other sleep specialists at Stanford (God, am I lucky to be living in the Bay Area). It really helps with insomnia, and I think it would help in your case. It doesn't work for everybody, though. I have friends who have had mixed results. I'm just glad it worked for me
No worries about posting in the wrong forum. I'm sure a moderator will move it soon.

I recommend weed. I smoke every night before about an hour or two before I go to bed and I always have wonderful sleeps.
Rarely do I dream, and I always wake up feeling refreshed

MJ doesn't work very well for me, I sometimes get too anxious and experience tachycardia, and then I panic If that doesn't happen it makes me think so much I wouldn't be able to sleep. I checked melatonin and it seemed it's worth giving it a try, I'll see if I can buy it here.

What? That's untrue.
I smoke, like I said, every night, and I RARELY remember my dreams. I'm talking like...once a week tops. I always wake up feeling refreshed, never groggy. idk wtf ur talkin about man
also OP melatonin is just the chemical that your brain naturally releases when it senses that it's time to sleep. It should work. Also, that's why I said smoke an hour or two before bed, so that when you go to sleep you aren't actually stoned, you're just burned out.

the burned out - ness persists into the next day and beyond to a level that is impossible to discern for one person from completely sober but different - more burned out then to a level impossible to discern from completely sober for another
people are sensitive to different things to different degrees
IMO it is very rarely if ever good to smoke weed every 24hours
hope you find a good treat OP

ferdinando, ignoring your almost undecipherable english...you're just wrong.
I mean, it probably effects everyone differently, but I NEVER feel burned out after sleeping

this relates to sleep edit: time to wake up

this relates to time to wake up? I just can't understand you.
I wake up on time, rarely feel groggy, and smoke every night. So, I am proof that what you are saying is not totally true.

I'm going to have to agree that smoking weed every 24 hours doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I know that whenever I smoked (I don't anymore), I would feel really hazy and groggy the next day. I mean, I'd feel good, but also very burned out. It wreaked havoc with my sleep, but that's probably due to some sleeping disorders I was struggling with. I would always end up sleeping about 12 hours (I can often sleep 14-16 hours), and it was increasingly difficult to wake up in the morning. It definitely amplified my troubles with waking up. Melatonin very quickly ended insomnia, but it never really made it easier (or harder, for that matter) to wake up.
I don't see any sense arguing about this. Drugs affect everybody differently. If you want to smoke weed every night, Anthony, more power to you if it helps your sleeping patterns. Just know there are a lot of us like Ferdinando that are affected differently, and just can't do it. In other words, you're both right
Also, note that Ferdinando is from Denmark, and English is most likely not his first language. Give him a break.

Please do not portray your individul experiences as facts, and this post certainly does not belong in this forum.
OP,It is not herbal like you mentioned, but it is OTC, 5-htp has helped me especially after using psych's to fall asleep. I find melatonin to help somewhat but if you're looking for something to "knock you out" then most herbs or OTC products are not gonna cut it(IME).
