atl not producing fruits
    #14320526 - 04/20/11 01:05 AM (10 years, 21 days ago)

Any suggestions to initiate fruiting? I have them in a mono type chamber with five inches of perlite in the bottom.

I'm confused, do you want fruits or stones?

Dude if you want to grow stones then you needed to leave the grains in a jar for a few months to produce stones..

If you are trying to product stones what are your stats.

Temperature, Moisture, Innoc date, Spawn, give us more general info.  We may be able to help.  If it has stalled, I'd say Doc knows! you could try casing it.

I have plenty of stones. They grew out well. Once I harvested them I put the grain in pans and cased with peat, verm and gypsum. All I have now is sclorita pushing up the surface. I was wondering if Im doing something wrong or being impatient.

The grains were placed in aluminum pans after havesting most of the stones. Then cased with pete, verm and gypsum. The pans were placed in a sterlite tub with six two inch holes filled with pollyfil. In the bottom of the tub I have five inches of perlite for humidity and press and seal for the lid. 6500k light shining through the top for 12 to 15 hours per day. I mist when the casing looks dry. This process has worked well with other varity of cubes including PE. But now all i have is sclerotia pushing up the surface.

Could I have a strain that is more inclined to grow stones than fruits? I tried growing the atl out on agar waiting for a fruit to appear but none did only stones I let it grow for five months and not one fruit or primordia formed. Suggests are appreciated. myc

I have yet to fruit ATL 7 indoors, but they grow outdoors no problem.  When I try indoors the same thing happens to me, the stones just push up through the casing layer.  This is with casings that contained stones as well as casings with stones already harvested.  In both cases, the stones that were there push up through the casing layer or the myc produces new stones which also push through the casing layer.

In any event, when I put these "failed" casings outside I always get fruits.

Shrug

Sounds like you are doing thing properly.

Did you let it recolonize after you harvested the stones or did you put the cased grain directly in to fruiting?

I give them a week or two after casing before they go in to the FC.  Then I allow the casing to dry and give it a heavy misting,  after the heavy misting I normally have fruits in three days.
One thing to point out is make sure your humidity stays about the same in your SGFC,  ALT is picky and will abort if changes happen while fruiting.

What kind of climate do you live. I live in the pacfic northwest and we've had one cold and wet winter. Do you have suggestions as to what temps your atl grow outside? and thanks for the response. myc

I have not allowed it to consolidate the casing layer. I cased and put in fruiting chamber. I will try that next. Thanks

I let them sit for about a week or two as well, to no avail.  I think it is a FAE issue in my greenhouse, as the RH never leaves 90 - 95%, but only 1 cool mist impeller type humidifier provides FAE.  When I move them outside, often to a lower and inconsistent RH, I get fruits within a week or 2.  I will have to keep at it I suppose.

I am in a hot and humid client very near where ATL 7 were discovered, so of course they grow outside no problem, hehe.

Thanks for the link, I will give it a read.  For me fruiting ATL 7 indoors is not high on my list cause they fruit so readily outdoors.  That said, i would like to say I fruited ATL 7 at least once indoors.

Impatient maybe, plus some substrains fruit better than others.
Check through Stonesun's cultivation guide, I think maybe you want to let the block dry, then rehydrate.
But check before you do that on my say-so.
