My first morel! (not very exciting) [With updates]

Ha.. well it may not be that exciting for you guys, but I can at least finally say I found A morel. Yes, singular. Haha, I found this lil guy on my walk home from work growing out of a red mulch bed next to a road two days ago (4/17) - and this is after probably 30 hours of scoping natural settings that I thought they would be found. Oh the irony. I feel like the Morels are playing games with me.
Sorry guys, I need to invest in a new camera...

Thanks Twiz... It truly was an exciting feeling. I just wish I had some better pictures, I can't stand Cell Phone quality pics. But yeah, thanks for the input - the only info I can find on Morchella importuna is the Mushroom Observer post that you made.. But I'll take your word for it, since I can't find any other Morchella sp. that seem to fit any better.

Hells yeah, it's a nice feeling. But honestly, if this is all I feel this season I will kind of feel like the Morels played a cruel game with me...

Pretty much you hit the nail on the head buddy. Thanks...

This ended up being a completely separate patch from the original Morel that I found. I found these yesterday, on 4/20.. Made for qyute the memorable holiday. The patch is much more prolific than the pics even show. And, on top of that, there is a 3rd bark mulch bed next to these apartments that I just discovered today that has pins popping up in it. So there seems to be a bark mulch company spreading LOVE around my town..

Yeah, they have that laddered appearance to their pits and ridges.
Good find!

Hey y'all! I was just bored and looking through some pictures I recently took from my Morel patches and figured I'd share for your viewing pleasure (wish I had a real digital camera.. ugh)
These were taken on May 3rd -- I thought at the time it would be sort of a rescue mission as it had been REAL hot and dry for about 48 hours. We've had rain for the last 24, so I guess it really wasn't. Anyway... !
