ID Request - Southern NJ
    #14317714 - 04/19/11 02:15 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Hey Shroomery, this is my first post, I was looking around today and spotted some interesting mushrooms. Hoping they are active, thanks!

Species #1

Habitat: Southern New Jersey, piles of horse manure(older and newer manure), with bits of hay
and occasionally sawdust mixed in. Rural area around here, woodsy.

Stem, cap, dried one I found of same species

Gills: Grey/black/dark brown

Stem: Tan to light grey, pretty solid. Sort of thin, but sturdy. About 1/4 inch in diameter.

Cap: Tan brown, broken up on older mushroom caps (due to sunlight?), like a rounded cone (I don't know the technical terms here). About an inch in diameter, maybe 1 1/4 inches

Spore Print: Waiting, but looks to be jet black so far

Bruising: Hasn't shown much, seems to get a bit darker, but not sure about this

Smell: No noticeable smell to me

Found growing in an isolated group.

I WILL get the spore print ASAP, but like I said, it looks jet black at this point. Thanks!

Other finds (just for fun, but if any look active, let me know and I will update with more info) All were found in the horse manure.

I found two of these, golden caps, white, thin stem, really small mushrooms, the cap is the size of a dime

#3

Not really a mushroom, but some sort of fungi, no gills/stems

#4

See these all the time, not too exciting

#5

A bit sunburnt
