Cacti help? pics!
    #14317158 - 04/19/11 12:33 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

So I have 4 seedlings. 1 L williamsii, 3 T peruvianus.

LOPH

TORCHES

So, if you look in the pics I have some white mold growing in the clay pots. I had started them in the clay pots because I didnt want to transplant them later on so I germinated them on some cactus mix and let em go in their plastic terrarium thing while bottom watering.

I was mainly wondering if I should change the substrate by maybe adding red rocks, sand, and cacti nutrients?

This was/is my first attempt at cacti, any tips would appreciated.

you can transplant them with enough care, but you can also fight back the mold if you don't wish so.

pick up your favourite copper sulphate fungicide and dissolve it in water at 1/2 or 1/4 recommended strength, then carefully water your pots and improve fresh air exchange, like once a day.

as for nutrients, cactus seedlings don't need any probably for their first 6 months/1 year, plus your substrate is not that mineral and already contains plenty of nitrogen and organics for a succulent plant.

if you wanna add rocks and sand for visual appeal, it's your own choice

about the first seedling, it looks odd for being a lophophora...how old is it?

yeah more FAE is what I was thinking since its growing in my closet. even though i have a fan running in there it still stays humid because of the other plants and humidifier. I only open it 2 or 3 times a day for an hour or so.

the loph is only 2 months old I sowed like 5 in that pot and only 1 came up but i thought it looked weird...not spherical at all like the others ive seen on here
