I was never good at cooking steaks. I don't know why it used to seem so difficult, until now.

I did something right!

You assume you know where the steak is from... Heh, Well you just failboated. They are locally raised here on a ranch and are organic.

In case anyone is curious,
This is everything I know about cooking steak:
you need to rest a steak at a warm temp for a little while for the juices to reabsorb.
As far as cooking goes, hot as possible for as short as possible. Every second on the grill/pan is lost juices.
Then (if you're the kind of pussy that doesn't eat blue steak) you can finish in the oven.
Typical procedure to cook a steak for the wife is:
Sear both sides at max heat, cast iron pan for a minute or two, then put whole pan into a 450degF oven for five minutes. Rest, covered, serve.

It's Fourme D'Ambert bleu cheese. I like it because it's a mellower less tangy but still pungent blue cheese. Allows the flavors of the meat to really pop through.
Orgo, I actually cook it on medium heat in a skillet with a lid ON the skillet the entire time, and whenever I flip it, I drip the moisture from the lid back into the pan. I tend to lower the heat near the end of the cooking to medium-low or low.

that page isn't really very good now that i read it. there is one hanger steak per cow and i doesn't even say anything about it.
it is very low in fat and only outer tendons that can be pulled off by hand.
it is very tender, what they say about that is BS! i made a lot and even a couple summers ago and even the over cooked ones where tender as shit!

maybe a restaurants if your lucky.
if don't have a regular butcher u need to find one. once you go to someone for months they should start to hook you up and get u special things.
if you live in rural area a small butcher would be your best bet. small famers will butcher a couple at a time and sell like 1/2 and 1/4. they could hook u up with them when some one comes in for something like that.

i was raised vege, i went through a meat eating phase, but the idea of dead animal flesh is just gross to me id eat it if had to, but theres no need, we have so many other choices for food, its not like we have to hunt for food and we will starve if we dont kill an animal
its just greedy to take a life for food you dont need, my opnion anyway. Glad too hear its organic though

Was this steak cooked around the time the picture was posted? Steak is second best to lobster. Obviously rare/blue is the way to go with a good cut. No steak sauce either.

I used to love steak. My father is a big fan off red meat and he cooked steaks all the time back when I was a kid.
Once I got to college I stopped eating it cause it was expensive, after a while of not eating steak you lose the taste for it.
I barely eat beef anymore. I went to a steakhouse, got myself a huge steak and I regretted it...
No more red meat for me apparently. Not sure if i'm doing the right thing, cause scientist are 50/50 on whether red meat is good or bad.
I eat birds now!

I fucking love steak. Rare and bloody, Steak tar tar
Kobe veal is my favriote . Yep baby cows fed beer = pure
Also going to the butcher shop picking out a steak or steaks and having them grind it there will be one of the best burgers you'll ever have.
If you have real money go for a 50/50 blend of prime rib and fillet.
Just sirloin is good for burgers to just need to add some fat.
I saw the letting the meat rest I would say for at least 10-20 minutes with a piece of foil over it.

The 'sauce' on my steak is made from the juices the steak produced as it was cooked. There is no A-1 steak sauce on this or anything of the like, the only steak sauce on this is the sauce produced by the steak!
Also mushrooms and onions for nom factor.

That's because you haven't had a properly cooked high grade steak. T-Bones are low end, keep that in mind.

Steak is good. The other day I grilled me up a yak steak. That was some of the best meat that i've had. I put in for an elk and antelope hunt this year. I hope I get them, cause that will be a fuck load of good steak.
