I require help.

I bought a growkit..the same one as in the "UK Growkit" thread..

Right now it is sitting in a tank which is basically sealed, which I fan twice a day. It has a layer of perlite on the bottom with water. The tank is heated from the bottom, because i thought this would make it more humid....not sure if that's working. The sides and top are definitely covered in condensation, but when i open it to fan there doesn't seem to be much humidity in there. The kit is basically a casing. It is in a clear tray with the sides covered up with aluminium foil. The problem is that there is mycelium forming on the top, which casings are not supposed to have (I think).

Could this be caused by it being too hot, but not humid enough? If this is the case would the unheated perlite provide enough humidity?

Basically, how do I induce pinning.

1st: how old is it?

You can probably do w/o the heater.... just go with room temp.

If there is moisture on the sides of the chamber, the humidity should be fine.

Have you actually added a "casing" layer yet ? As in peat/verm etc ...
Or is this just the running of the substrate ?
If just substrate ... it is time to add casing material .
If the "casing" has mycelium strating to poke thru the surface , evenly across the surface this is normal , and time to induce fruiting .
To induce fruiting you expose to the light for 8-12 hours a day , fan frequently , keep moistened till pins start to appear . RH 82-90% , temp in the mid to upper 70'sF, lots of air exchange .
Good Luck

Any information I give is not intended to aide you in the production of potentialy illegal substances !None of my exp comes from growing illegal varities , so take it as you will .
