i've been having nightmares every night, i can't relax anymore, i feel so anxious and scared. i've been through worse shit in my life, so why am I so affected by this?

Just do your best, every day.
There's no shame or anxiety in trying as hard as you can, and if you fail you gave it everything you had.
You might have to start as some machine shop's bitch, cleaning up things for a while.
Maybe work a couple of jobs.
Your only problem is your fear of failure, so quit being afraid and get busy.

I also got my welding cert.
Never found work though.
Work is there, but you might need to move to find it. Like kid orgo said, in a city, you should be able to find a position in a shop.
If you've had zero work experience, ever, then goodluck. IMO, it is a mistake to enter school with zero job experience.

You cant get experience unless you already have experience.
If i were in your situation Id just take any food, warehouse or construction job i could find and then weld art in my spare time to bring to burning man or sell to hippies online. At least until I could find a job where I could put the welding cert. to work. If youve been welding animal statues (what my friend does) you can say you have experience making and selling them.

Everyone joins at different ages and everyone gets jobs at different ages. I got my first job at 16 in 2002, but I didnt join here until 2008 when I was 22 and am 25 now but coincidentally have not been employed since 2008. I stayed constantly employed between 2002 and 2008.
Now I do odd gigs, mostly landscaping, vending(tour/festies), and slangin things on ebay. I make enough to live but dont have much leisure money at all.

Best of luck to you!
Don't stress out. It will work out. Keep looking around. Like you said, you've dealt with worse.
I know the economy is bad but I have never had a problem finding a job. In fact, I've held multiple jobs at a time. You can do it!
Have a positive attitude and keep putting yourself out there. Things always have a way of working out especially if you continue to work hard!
Hope things work out for you, soon!

"Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded." -Abraham Lincoln

Now he's got a degree but no job experience and no one will hire him.
Luckily for him if he remains in poverty he doesnt have to pay back his loans.
