If you added a layer of dry verm then that acts as your filter and no need to cover the holes

They are fine, dont need anything covering holes when you have a dry verm layer. also, dont put them in a tote or anything. Let them where they are

Dont cover up the holes. Thats what allows for gas exchange. If you do HAVE to cover em up us micropore tape(medical tape) but its not even really needed. Have patience lol its tough to wait but its worth it, and no need to incubate if temps are in the 70's. Good luck and post some pin porn when ya fruit them bad boys.

agree with the 2 other responses - not necessary with dry verm layer. i do not cover mine if i have it. I did (cover with medical/micropore tape) at first and found it somewhat hindering.

brf cakes, right? just set them on a shelf and forget about them for a week. no peaking! make sure there's nothing on top of them that blocks the holes.

CRAAAAAP, in the midst of frantically going through the process, I did not add the dry verm... Any chance to save, add filters wait a little bit and hope for the best? For some reason I though the first layer would dry and create a layer of protection thereafter... ugh stupid.
What is a possible solution? Add tinfoil to lid after cleaning the tinfoil and put them in a clean tupperware?
It's been a little less than 3 days.
o. no. you're probably screwed, bro. start again.

Get some micropore tape since you didnt put a dry verm layer. stop touching them and all after that. Hurry with it too, the longer they sit out with a hole open to the brf, the more shit your letting in.

OP if you didnt add the dry verm layer I would go and get some micropore tape and cover those holes asap. If you cant do it mayb cover with foil. I use to always leave my jars covered with foil during colo it didnt make that much of a difference but GE is important. 3 days without a filter I dont know about your chances but maybe you can save something

I did the EXACT same thing you did by not adding a dry verm layer. I did cover my holes with masking tape and after a week I removed it cause colonization was way to slow. Only 2 of my 8 jars contaminated. So if yours can make it to full colonization you will be good to go!!

I dont know how you missed that step. Maybe you'll get lucky . But you can always start new jars. At least the cost is cheap.

I dont normally unscrew lids. Sealed from time of inoc to casing w/ no FAE. takes about 3-4 week to colonize in a dresser draw. its usually warm in my apartment so i dont use incubator. 70ish degrees.

I am rewriting the whole PF Tek and an easy step-by-step process instead of in paragraph formatting to avoid missing anything for take 2 if this fails.
If you leave near Walmart or its likeness you can pick some up for about $2.50... should last you for a while... unless you lose things a lot...
