when to add gypsum
    #14313340 - 04/18/11 07:17 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Should I add gypsum to the WBS or to the coir or both? If I add it to coir should I do that before pasturaizing or after? And if I add it to the coir I read it to be about 5%. But is that 5% of the coir or 5% of coir and the spawn together?

5% by volume is plenty.  You could cut it down to 2% to 3% if you wanted to, with most substrates. I mix the substrate material and gypsum, and then hydrate to the correct moisture content, then pasteurize or sterilize.

Add a tablespoon or two to each few gallons of soak water when preparing grains.
