The Giver.
    #14312139 - 04/18/11 01:40 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Picked up The Giver by Lois Lowry from the library today.

I remember reading this back in Jr. High, and I think it was one of the only books I actually enjoyed reading. So I'm going to read it again!

I remember my Teacher giving us a paper to write on Utopia's and why they are possible, or impossible, and I wrote a paper that got a 96 on why they were impossible.

I basically said, in the event of trying to create a utopia, you are always finding things wrong, and constantly trying to improve, so it will never be perfect. :awedance:

What do you guys think? Anyone read this book yet?

I remember this book fondly.  When the class was reading from it aloud, I was using it to hide my GameBoy while I wasted my time catching all the Pokémon.

I remember reading it in 6th grade.  I didn't fully understand it then, and haven't read it since so.....

I just remember him being an apprentice and the world being in black and white.

And didn't he give the guy oily massages or something because was paralyzed?

Whenever I'm feeling sick (hungover, belly full of cactus powder, etc,) and I need to go to my quiet place, I imagine the sailboat sailing across the peaceful blue sea
