Why? He's just stating fact. If there are laws and you choose to disregard them you may have to face the consequences of breaking those laws. Some people choose to take the risk and some don't.

WEll either that or get your ass thrown in jail.
There are laws to respect in order to make society livable.
You might be against police work, but trust me, they are more useful than you think they are.

i never said that. i just dont think people should obey dumb laws; and all the while they should try to get em changed.
life would be a lot cooler if people who actually had half a brain ran shit. but that will never happen because theres 2 types of people, and only one type of person does well in politics. theres the self righteous people who want to do shit for the greater good to better their own personal image to everyone else (FOR THE CHILDREN!), and then theres the people who realize that a lot of shit everything in life is an individual persons responsibility, and that the individual can be held responsible for making dumb mistakes that fuck up other peoples lives without making everyone else a criminal just for sharing a common activity with the idiot who fucked up someones life. (kinda like how lots of people on this forum arent fucking up someone elses life by taking drugs.... we arent fucking criminals.....)
if the people breaking the law that is unjust get arrested or ticketed they should make an amazing, well built, and organized case in court and make the police/politicians look like idiots in front of a jury. and hopefully the jury has the balls to call them innocent.
i know if i ever get arrested and have to go to court, thats what im doing.
unfortunately people who are on jurys think its a matter of "you broke the law" or "you didnt" (which, no offense, you are coming across as right now) and they fuck shit up real bad. that hurts progress more than anything.

yeah, the guy should have quit while he was ahead. the cop should have been the bigger man and ignored the guy.
Pris and Patial are the two loudest in this debate, so you win
i don't have anything to prove. just stating my opinion and the perspective i see things from. i don't care enough to dispute with you gents any longer over my opinion vs. yours.

"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

i'm not saying the cops weren't being dicks, but the guy was kinda asking for it behaving like that.
i do agree that we live in a police state, and have for a long time. living in another country in 09 really opened my eyes to that fact. we are so closely monitored that it isn't even funny. i don't think anarchy is a better alternative though. we need the police, we just need to reign them in and revise the degree of how involved local and federal government is involved in our personal lives. imo of course.

the more the people break the law the more it shows the 'public' that law is needed

you understand that it's this civil disobedience that gives them more money to continue doing what they do, the proper way to do things would be to appear on the jury and put the law on trial, it's your right when the law is unjust. it's called jury nullification
Quote:
i know if i ever get arrested and have to go to court, thats what im doing.
really because the judge advises the jury of the verdicts they can render and unless you can really win over the jury's heart the verdict will come back as guilty because by the letter and the spirit most people are regardless of how foolish the law is... was the person riding on the sidewalk, yes... is the law foolish, sometimes, is the law the law, yes, did he violate the law, yes. is the person guilty of violating the law of riding on the sidewalk, yes so what is the verdict. guilty. it matters not how foolish the cops, prosecutors or judge look, it's how the law and the defendant look in the eyes of the jury and no amount of courtroom theatrics changes that
Quote:
unfortunately people who are on jurys think its a matter of "you broke the law" or "you didnt" (which, no offense, you are coming across as right now) and they fuck shit up real bad. that hurts progress more than anything.
right and as I stated, the jury looks at the offense and the law and that's what they;re told to rule on, until they're educated in the fact that the law itself is also on trial nothing will ever change even if you start doing cannonballs into the jury pool

I agree, the situation could have easily been handled on both sides much better, the 3 cops that piled out could have simply gone over, explained that they were dealing with such a terrible criminal and he'd be well advised to just keep his mouth shut, the guy also could have simply kept his mouth shut when the cops said something initially or he could have simply told the cops he was being an ass and offered an apology, surely neither action would have landed him in jail
