Increased Odds For a Wet Season in Eastern NSW
    #14311257 - 04/18/11 10:24 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Just found this article on BOM if you haven't seen it yet, got me pretty excited. Did a search and couldn't find anything related.

Excerpt:

"The April to June outlook for southeastern Australia shows a moderate to strong shift in the odds favouring a wetter than normal season over eastern New South Wales.

The pattern of seasonal rainfall odds across southeastern Australia has been produced using recent Pacific and Indian Ocean temperature patterns. This outlook is a result of warm conditions in the Indian Ocean, along with cool conditions in the central tropical Pacific Ocean associated with the current La NiƱa.

The chances of receiving above median rainfall during the April to June period are between 60 and 75% over the eastern half of New South Wales (see map). Such odds mean that for every ten years with similar ocean patterns to those currently observed, about six to seven April to June periods would be expected to be wetter than average in eastern New South Wales, while about three to four years would be drier."

Mushroom Hunting & Identification Forum Rules

5. Do not make threads or posts discussing or reporting the weather.
This includes complaining about the weather, asking if the current weather is "good for shrooms", or how long to wait after rain fall to go hunting.
As a general rule of thumb, if it has rained within the last 1-10 days, and the temperatures are correct for the type of mushroom you're looking for, and the time of year is correct then it is very likely that the mushroom you are looking for is growing.
