Caps vs. Stems

I have heard many urban myths about this: caps make you hallucinate, stems give you energy and euphoria....
At any rate, is there a difference?
Does one have more psilocybin/psilocyn?

Its all an old wive's tale. The common misconception is linked to the aminita muscara mushroom, which I believe only contains active alkaloids in the cap. Psilocybe mushrooms, however, are virtually equal in potency both in the cap, and stem.

From past experience, SWIM has found both stems and caps to have equal potency. S/he always thought that caps would be more potent but it doesn't seem to be true.

I have also heard of caps being more potent. I think i read on Erowid that stems contained like .32 % psilocybin, and caps were like .31. dunno for sure though, peace

ive never noticed a difference in strenth.... but if youve got a few freshies and want to eat some fresh them eat the caps and dry the stems.... in my experience the caps taste better than the stems when fresh and you can always grind and cap the stems to trip at a later date....

Amanita muscaria does not have any alkaloids. They have ibotenic acid, muscimole and muscarine, the latter which makes one sweat profusely and gives one extreme stomach discomfort and nausea and vomiting.
Butr it does not contain alkaloids.

wellllll... muscimol is the "primary intoxicant" in Amanita muscaria & A. pantherina, and it does contain a couple nitrogens in its structure, so i think it does qualify as an alkaloid (but certainly not an indolic or tryptamine-based alkaloid) like shrooms, dmt, and more distantly harmine, ibagaine, lsd, yohimbine, etc...) or phenethylamine (mescaline, mdma, or other shulgin specials) or isoquinolines, tropanes (including coke & ecgonine), opiates, or other miscellaneous oddball alkaloids... ~ oh, and if somebody wants to send me their "useless" Ps cubensis stems/stipes, well, i'm game... ... ~ ~

this question again.. oh god..
there is no difference.. studies have found that there are very large fluctuations in active alkaloids in a flush of mushrooms and even in a single mushroom. in one section there could be tons of shit and then an inch farther up the stem, nothing. Caps are not more potent, there is no difference.

everyone IS differnt, but speaking scientifically, caps are identical in potency to stems... please pm me to discuss your cap/stem pharmacology phenomena!!!
-------------------- "A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
