Problem with colonized bulk sub- Very fragile

Has anyone had a problem with colonization strength when isolating strains?
My first flush is amazing (due to isolation) but when I pick them the fully colonized substrate easily comes apart when I pick leaving the cake very deformed and possible without a second flush. Should I through away this isolation? Did I isolate incorrectly?

could be possible, I would keep it just to see how it regrows and if it will flush a second time

I made a batch using LC with bags and agar to grain jars. Both produced the same results.
Is there a factor in mycelial growth that will determine strength of colonization? This seems to be a determining factor of flush amount.

There is not one factor, but many different factors. After full colonization of the bulk substrate, did you give the mycelium a week or so in vegetation conditions before inducing pinning to allow the mycelium time to consolidate? If you did, then you could try altering your bulk substrate composition, pH, or hydration level. If all else fails, it's probably just your isolate.
Personally, I find that using coir causes fragile mycelium, many times. Additives such as coffee and manure, and adding some vermiculite to the mixture has helped with that some.

Someone asked about damaging the myc when twisting and pulling last week. RR said it's normal, which is why commercial growers use a knife... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14299758
