Sigur Ros in Concert
    #1430625 - 04/05/03 01:30 AM (21 years, 2 months ago)

I saw sigur ros tonight in concert, and it was great.
A band called Album Leaf opened, which were awesome... all instrumental, with brilliant harmony and kick-ass drums. check them out if you can.

Sigur Ros brought tears to my eyes. Jonsi, the lead singer/guitar player is so expressive... they opened with the first song on the new album (), and then before the next song, he stands by himself and starts playing his guitar, only if you didn't know he plays with a string bow and LOTS of distortion and reverb, causing really odd feedback.. so with a flat-bridge instrument you normally could only play the top and bottom strings, but he was just goin back and forth reaally quickly making the whole place just vibrate and rattle... sounds i've never heard before.
The venue kinda sucked, not enough room (my g/f got claustrophobic) and the stage was too low, i could only see 1 guy from the chest up. and they didn't play Staraflur and Svefn G Englar but that's okay. I hear they get bored of their older stuff so they played a ton of new songs that were really beautiful.
encore-last track on ()
exit-enter again and everyone takes a bow. not a word said the Whole show. i think i'm glad about that.

Shit.. been planning on shrooms for a month and a half, but never got them. It would've been the shizzit if i did, but ah well, still got to see em.

Please... if you get a chance to see them, DON'T PASS IT UP! this may be your only. you will shed a tear, i promise

DOOD!
Its so true! I rememeber seeing them in Oct, and sitting there for the first song (which was Untitled #1). The music just rolled right over me sending shivers up my spine. Then Jonsi started to sing- it was all over from there.... His voice pierces right through you, its incredible!

While I was going to say you missed out by not being altered, but sometimes things are better that way...

I saw them in the biggest church in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1999, and I still can't get over how awesome that concert was.

Sigur Ros is amazing

I've never seen them live, but I'm going to have to agree with that whole-heartedly. They are amazing.

I can only imagine -barely- what a live performance would be like.

The lead singer uses a made up language called Hopelandic, a mixture of Icelandic and English.
Although I better think of it that he uses his voice as another sounding instrument, rather than vocals that sing lyrics.

It is the most gorgeous music I have ever heard.
Go check out Staraflur, Svefn G Englar, and Untitled #1
