Chance of intelligent life arising on earth is... 0.001%.

We don't have any particular evidence that life "arose" here vs (for example) being seeded.
Do we?

actually, new scientific evidence shows a high probability of life being seeded here, rather than conceived here. many microbial unicellular organisms that live in harsh/strange conditions often times have very few genetic links to the common prokaryotic cells we are familiar with. some even further conclude that all life on earth may not have had the same common ancestry leading back to one form of unicellular life; rather, a hodgepodge of differing cells from differing origins could have caused such a unique diversity/variance in our many distinct biomes.

i actually have many links, but you'd need a University of California NetID and Passcode to view any of them...
if you'd like, i could quote a few, even though that'd technically be illegal.
