Jeezus, the flames here make OTD seem like a cream puff war. It's all just opinions anyway so why does everyone get so darned upset and indulge in ad hominem attacks? i mean even is S & P there are differences of opinion/belief systems but this place is just wicked in comparison......is there any possible correlation between the fervent support/defence of one's own personal political beliefs and the very same forces that fuel the current turmoil on this planet.....i'm just asking, please all comments are welcome, thanks

I think you probably hit the nail on th head.
I think that both sides feel it pivotal in the current issues to convince the other side that their side is right because there is very much at stake. So people get frustrated because the decisions being made by people are affecting all of us, where as in a debate about spirituality, philosophy, the only people effected are the indiviudals.

90% of the anger, flaming, insults, etc come from just a few members, the rest aren't that bad.

Actually, it's not anger for my part. My discussions here are the same as I have in "real" life. We get heated, say things, and then move on. Frankly, I don't care when people "flame" me, it's part of the amusement.

Unless its another luvdem/alex123 flame wars.....those are so common...they get a little tiresome. 
I'd say the hostility here, is not as bad as you think.....most of it is just good ol passionate debating!...people that cant take a flame, need to visit the support forum and build up some self esteem.

Well perhaps i've been too quick to say that i sense much hostility here, much in the same way that this was my initial perception in S & P, but i must admit, my first impression here was of animosity amongst those(some of you anyway) of differing beliefs/opinions. Maybe in time i can come to embrace all of you as well as your different thoughts/ideas as i have done with the people in S & P *
i say this with the full realization that there are many here that also frequent S & P

Certainly no anger on my part. When you've got a few kids who are only able to post insults how should you respond to them? Responding to an insult with an insult isn't anger, simply the only thing they are going to understand.

I like to argue, i like to have word wars, and i like to debate if it's something i enjoy discusing seriously.
I don't get offended, pissed off or threatened by what anyone says on this board. Some of the Libbies on this site are fun to joke with (however that Psilo.. girl is obsessed) while others are pretty intereting to debate with. Others are fun to argue with because they incorporate humor into their flames and/or philosophical standing.
