Ahhhhh can't wait for the season to really start off, Went for a walk two days ago didn't find anything but definitely sussed out some amazing spots.

I was wondering does anyone pick the Amanita. muscaria species? I've been playing around with them for a bit with converting the acids and stuff but was wondering if there was another technique maybe with better results?

I keep reading here on shroomery about these monster finds out North yet I always thought South would be much better due to the colder climate and extra rain.

When people are mentioning North is that North East hills or generally all over the North? Not asking for specific spots, just an idea. I'm really confused about this haha

please edit location names out of your post, no specifics.

the north is very much like hunting the south, you check out the local area if it seems right, 1 out of every 100 times there is gold there.

at certain times of the year the south booms more, other times the north does, sometimes both.

hope this helps.

Went for another hunt today and found a few new species of inactives, but my camera wasnt feeling its usual self, so no pictures this week. Im really keen to see the sub season start early but it was a bit dry out there still, all  the fresh amanitas are quite small, still one of my favorite looking shrooms. might have to do a rain dance this week i think. peace all.

Yes to my amazement I found a couple today in my garden.

I haven't been able to go into the fields as of yet but thats soon going to change.

I wouldn't mind going camping this yr with a few hunting mates if some of you are keen.

If anyone is further out into the SA countryside, what have the temps been like outside the city? Rain and chilly weather forecast coming up, looks like its about to start!

The temp in the countryside is really starting to drop right down as tonight is a prime example 6C (bloody cold)

Ive just got back from replanting some bracken fern along side a grassed area creek line. I hope the ferns will take hold and if so Il throw some pine wood chips around the area. I can access this spot when ever I want now. One good thing is no one uses this land beside someone lets their sheep roam around.:sunny:
I say this will be one interesting garden project

it got down to 8C last night in the city, so I'm assuming it was a chilly morning out in the country. the temps are definitely starting to drop, although not quite quick enough for my liking.

Great finds. I have been expecting some actives would be around in the adelaide hills as the cold misty dewy mornings have been here for a good week. Going for a hunt today to see whats around. Hopefully lots of interesting shrooms have popped up in my absence:)

I say OP should change the title to "South Australia 2011 season"

Generally its normally just pics of subs, but at least then people can post their inactive finds as well since our SA threads tend to be alot smaller then some of the other Aussie season threads.

We don't really need another SA thread IMO
