Well, I posted this to get everyones opinion on bank evasion and under the rader small time money laundering per se, but legal or not legal, my hypothetical situation would be; An 18 year old with a shoebox of 20's that has ID and can get a bank account for things like checks and shit to pay electrical (no grow op), and internet, car insurance and etc. Inspired by your talk of gold investment and will do it when more stable in the future (thanks for sharing btw). How would an 18 year old with no credit, job, place and (legal) source of income advance to stable adult.
I know people use SWIM as an excuse, but this is really a SWIM situation :P

you good at something? Black belt, in good shape, something like that?
Start a business teaching lessons.
Or wait tables a few times a week.
Or a computer repair business, something like that
Don't worry so much about metals and international currency collapses and such the like. Worry about things rich people worry about
What you want is some paper trail that could justify x amount
and you want to pay taxes on money you legitimize
So you look at your bills - and I'm talking the bare minimum shit here. say your rent, phone, car and car ins come to 1000 dollars (low but it's a round number)
You would want to find a way to pay taxes on 120% of that.
So you start a small biz or something, and just don't work too hard at it. Then you have a set of books that income can creep into and out of.
Or declare it as gambling winnings a couple times a year
Then having just enough to justify your lodging and such, you can now spend your cash on less watched items - clothes, entertainment, etc.
RE a car, if you want to "pay cash" for a car but can't afford the car you want, trade up to it.
IE you are putting 500 a month into a car, instead of having a bank loan for that much, start with say a 5000 dollar car and trade it in or sell it and buy a new one about twice a year
Don't make a lot of huge cash transactions too often - people talk about semi mythical 5 and 10 grand limits but I wouldn't wave around much more than 2000
A lot of people - a fucking surprising number, actually - don't bank. They typically don't make enough to keep an account open for free and they just pay their bills in cash or with money orders.
You would be surprised how nosy people actually aren't about this sort of thing.
If you buy a house, downpay about 30% and don't use WCDA or anything like that, use a credit union.

young shroomery members should get jobs and be clones and lived off their paychecks, meet girls in church, make luv (not fuck) them in the missionary position only, have babies, retire, buy winnebagos, and drive route 66 until a timely death of heart attack while fly fishing
a "shoebox full of 20s" lifestyle ends in at least an asskicking for 99%.
Or poverty which is really just as bad, but slower

I also like to point out that 1oz gold bullion coins are lighter in weight than their value in $20 bills, more compact (a roll of 10 coins is about the size of a flashlight battery and holds $15,000 in value currently) and its impervious to things like fire and moisture, stuff that FRN dont like.
Shoebox full of $20s =
Shoebox full of Krugerrands =

You'll do ANYTHING to survive when push comes to shove and all decency, morals and social conventions are right out the window.
More like the human mind will do anything within its power, try any trick, promote any idea that will preserve it.
You aren't your brain, or your mind. If bad things happen you will still be responsible for your actions. Good decisions can happen in bad environments.
I do however understand what you're saying, I just very much dislike the notion of "hopelessness", the reality of "there is no option"; phooey. There are always options. You are exercising an option at this very moment.
I would die of starvation before I committed aggression against someone to say steal their food. If you can't work or find food or figure it out without committing violence against your neighbor you are condemning yourself to a more miserable existence than you would have if you'd chosen to simply suffer the results of not being able to find food without harming another human being for their property.
