Bears, buds, and My great Friends, Lucy and Molly
    #14303610 - 04/16/11 10:00 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

This camping trip took place about a year ago. It was planned out by my girlfriend and her best friend. We drove to this camping grounds somehwere in the beautiful, serene mountains of the Catskills. The drive up was a breeze, mild weather, puffy cumulous clouds hung in the sky and the smell of the fresh air was pure and easy. Upon getting off the highway and closer to the camping site, we drove on stretching roads nestled in between huge pine trees. The scenerey was accomadating and breathtaking. We stopped at a local convenience store to pick up a few things, coffee, ice, etc. and asked the locals for directions to the camp site. What seemed like a dozen or so miles later, and a few wrong turns, we finally arive at the campsite.
We pull into the campground early. The owners were not at the office, so we continue to our campsite and begin setting up our tents. We start to explore the campsite and see all the wonderful carved sculpture of bears and gnomes and a makeshift teepee. I began to see how wonderful this campsite was and how mysterious and magical the woods and forest surrounding us truly was. After more exploration, we realize next our campsite runs a river. I being the only male around helped the women set up their tents and prepare the fire. The day was still young. Time seemed reminiscent to that when I was a kid, slow and unimportant. Finally one of the owners came to the site and explained the rules to us. They said they don't mind drinking and loud music-just keep the bass down. No problem we said. Also he mentioned that black bears frequent the site like squirrels, and if we we saw one to NOT RUN, just be still and yell/make noise. This was obviously a bit disheartening, albeit downright scary. As the day continued I tried to keep this fact out of my mind and hoped they were just being precautious. As we settled in, we waited for another group of friends to arrive and chilled around the site conversating and joking about the bears.
While we waited we decide to take a walk through the town and hit up one of the hiking trails along the mountain. I lead the way up the trail into the mountain. We get up into the woods and are all amazed at the gigantic slate the the mountain was composed of. The girls were happy that I knew a lot about plants, and pointed out the poison ivy to them as they had no idea ha! We take a break and find a fallen log to all sit on. I pull out a nice fat blunt for us all to share and we all talk about how much fun and how excited we are, and the girls every couple of minutes or so would clap and smack rocks in an effort to scare off and curious bears that might be lurking around.
We get back to the campsite and eventually our friends arrive at the campsite. The two girls begin setting up their tents and settling in as well. As night approached I was still waiting for my best friend to come up. The sun set and nightfall came upon us. We had the fire going (despite shitty wet wood purchased from the owners) and all sipped on some drinks and beers. We witnessed our first black bear on the outskirts of the camping grounds, the girls yelling and clapping their hands shooing it away. Never seeing a bear in real life I was a little worried about having them as neighbors. In any event the night grew longer and I was still waiting for my best friend to arrive as well. He was driving up solo from far away so I knew he would be a while. As the later hours of the night approached everyone was getting tired and my friend was still nowhere to be seen. I was getting worried because I had no service in these woods and he should have arrived by this time. I take a stroll to the bathrooms to brush my teeth and wash up for the night. Upon walking back from the restrooms, The owner out of her bedroom windows yells to me to be careful, she saw a bear by the house. Not a second later I hear a loud grunting noise and see a large blackbear about 5 yards away from me looking directly at me. I was scared shitless. My first instinct was to run, but the owner instructed me to remain still. I turned white as a ghost and physicallly couln't move. She started yelling at the bear as did I, and finally the bear scurried away  behind some cars, much to my amazement. Phew!, I thought for sure I was a goner. From that moment on I was always paranoid about the blackbears lurking around the campsite.
I tell my girlfriend about my encounter and tried not to come across as scared because I didn't want to freak out all the girls. In any event I end up getting a call from my friend who I've been waiting for. He tells me he got pulled over and arrested, and I needed to come bail him out and pick him up. Of course I had no service and kept breaking up while trying to talk to him. His phone ends up dying and I had no way to get ahold of him. He calls me from another number and tells me the town hes in before the phone call is dropped. Me and my girlfriend take our friends car and call up local police stations to try and find out where exactly he is- to no avail. We realize we have no idea where we are going and turn around back the the campsite. He calls me again and tells me somehow he stole his car out of impound, and is going to try to drive the the campsite. I park out front of the campsite and wait for him. By this time it is around 2 a.m. My girlfriend suggests we should just go back to the campsite, but I tell her lets wait 15 more minutes. I realize the chances of him finding this campsite at night time would be almost impossible. Finally about to give up and head back, I see two lights glimmering towards us. The car drives past us and it is him! I beep bc he wouldn't recognize my other friends car I was in. We get back to the campsite. He tells me all about how he was pulled over for speeding and how the cop found his oz of widow, not mention 6 the six other tickets he recieved (headlight out, no licensce plate in front etc..) and how he stole his car out the impund lot.I thought to myself how lucky he was to finally get here.
The next day we wall wake up to find our garbage bags all scattered around our campsite. A bear had been perusing though our garbage! Another scary thought that the bears were so close to our tents, and even several of the girls remember hearing something walking around, making noise in the morning. We get up, I start the fire and we all have a little breakfast. We're all chilling around having fun, waiting for another group of friends to arrive later that day. After a couple of hours they arrive and the fun began! They set up theyre tent and then it was time! My best friend pulls out some lucy and gives me two tabs. I gave one to my girlfriend and we both stuck them under our tongue. Another good friend gives us each a dip of molly and we wait for the fun to start. We gather up our group and get our bathing suits on and walk over into the river. The water was still chilly yet so soothing. We walk across the river through a small little 'island' and discovered an even bigger river awaited us. The acid and molly was creeping in and the sight and color of the rocks literally stole my and the whole groups breath away! We were bedazzled in it's beauty, we felt its soul and energy running through us, it was simply orgasmic. With beers in our hands and various psychadelics runnign through our heads we curiously explored this gorgeous river and sat and talked on the rocks of the river. A couple of us began stacking these beautiful rocks up which varied in color from washed out reds, powdery blues and earthly browns. The rocks seemed so vibrant and alive. By this time I was feeling simply AMAZING!! As was my girlfriend who candyflipped with me, and a my best friend and a couple buddies who all did shrooms, lucy and molly!(Crazy) Afterwards we headed back to the campsite to warmup by the fire as nightime approached and me and my girlfriend headed to the shower. The shower was small and located in between the only two other bathrooms on the campgrounds. It was the one of those showers where you had to hold down a string to let the warm water out. We began showering and lathering up. Still compltely under the spell of the lucy and molly we began having passionate sex as I held the string down and let the warm water drip down upon us-pure ecstacy. We totally lost any inhibitions not caring if any one walked into the restroom. We left the restrooms without any incidence and walked back the campsite totally refreshed and invigorated. My best friend said we were both glowing and radiating that whole day. We finish that night by the campfire conversing and drinking heavily. With bears roaming around the campsite somehow we all head to our tents and pass out.
We wake up that morning to the rain beating on our tent but that didn't stop us from making the most of the day. We set up a canopy and gathered under for refuge. We drank all day and night and had a great time bullshitting and talking about how amazing this campsite was. The next day We headed to the town and got some breakfast. A lot us were a hungover (some more than others) and we got some delicious meals to help us out. After breakfast we did a little shopping at the local stores. We headed back to the campsite and began dismantling our tents and packing our cars. We say our goodbyes to each other and headed on our way home. While driving away I look out the window and recall all of the magical events that unfolded here and how truly astounding nature, my friends and life are and what a wonderful experience took place that weekend. I will never forget this camping trip, the great times, the bears, laughs that were had, and the love that eminated from everyones souls that weekend.
