Not totally related, but there was a parapalegic wrestler that competed a few years ago somewhere and made a killing...... because no one is trained to deal with limbless wrestlers. It was pretty much bullshit.

This is this year's (2011) NCAA Championship.

Ok regarding the fake leg will never get tired comment? This argument doesn't make much sense to me. Correct me if i'm wrong here but the fake leg doesn't just move on its own does it? I imagine that you would use muscles from you thighs and hips to make that fake leg move? and those muscles would get tired quicker since its doing the work of muscles in a leg that aren't there?
And i dunno where i stand on this issue but it made me wanna raise this question. What about people with mental disabilities or ailments that help them do things better than someone without those ailments. FOR example, i was listening to this Radiolab episode about a lady who suffered a really bad seizure that essentially made her lose her inner clock? her ability to perceive time and the passing which gave her great ease in running these like 400 mile marathons that "Ultra Runners" run, or it also made her loose her ability to read maps? so she would drop ribbons and stuff down to be able to track where she went and find the right paths. Oh and she came in first in most of these races too. Should she be allowed to compete with people who don't have these same disabilities? Where do you draw the line with what a mental and physical disability gives you super human strength to do?
If you're interested in that radiolab episode here it is http://www.radiolab.org/blogs/radiolab-blog/2011/apr/05/in-running/

Prosthetic-limbed runner disqualified from Olympics
Oscar Pistorius, a double-amputee sprinter, has been denied a shot at the Olympics... for being too fast. The runner -- who uses carbon-fiber, prosthetic feet -- was reviewed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (or IAAF), a review which found the combination of man and machine to be too much for its purely human competitors. According to the IAAF report, the "mechanical advantage of the blade in relation to the healthy ankle joint of an able bodied athlete is higher than 30-percent." Additionally, Pistorius uses 25-percent less energy than average runners due to the artificial limbs, therefore giving him an unfair advantage on the track... or so they say. Oscar is expected to appeal the decision, saying a lack of variables explored by the single scientific study calls for deeper investigation into the matter. Our suggestion? Prosthetic legs for all! http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/17/prosthetic-limbed-runner-disqualified-from-olympics/
