The GREAT Cartoons Appreciation Thread

This thread is for those who like a great cartoon show, and to discuss and post samples of the ones we think were the best cartoons ever made.
Claynimation, Anime, Tex Averey, Old ones, Brand New ones, funny, serious, anything goes really.
This one's for GREAT cartoons as judged by YOU, not the ones that were only fun cause you were bored and had some weed to spare.
Comment, praise and criticize each others choices but lets keep it as fun as a good cartoon should be.
I'll go first. Its an oldie but I think the funniest cartoon I ever saw was Samurai Pizza Cats (original American dub). It was awfully, awfully repetitive and predictable and to cut production cost a lot of the material was recycled to death but the voice talents, storylines and their interaction were the funniest stuff I ever saw in cartoon form.
I'll post the intro song as a sample. Backstory: the American team was stumped about making an intro song for this Japanese cartoon, then one day the narrator comes to the studio shitfaced drunk, says something like "I got an idea guys, lets do it!" gets behind the microphone, starts singing and laughing like a maniac and records the following in one take:
If the intro is funny to you see if you can find a torrent. Its an extremely funny cartoon until you get bored with the repetitiveness. Goes really well with just a little bit of weed.
Endless running jokes, the narrator openly apologizing for their shitty budget and recycling of imagery, involving the audience with the hypothetical ins and outs of making the cartoon, Samurai Pizza Cats was awesome once they got on a roll.

As far as new cartoons, I'd say Adventure Time and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, are the two best cartoons created primarily for children.
For cartoons made primarily for adults, I have to say Venture Brothers and The Boondocks.

The Animaniacs was a great cartoon, as well as the spin off Pinky and the Brain.
As far as when I was younger, I remember the joy of coming home after school and watching Robotech, Transformers, Thundercats and GI JOE.

WB really had some of the greatest people to work on animation the subtitles, the story, the ability to convey movement and emotion with so few brushstrokes and almost always under 10 mins

I loved me some Johnny Bravo, Two Stupid Dogs, Dexter's Laboratory. Jeeze it's hard to remember the names of these shows. Aside from the point, what was the name of that show with the "superhero" guy who was all concerned with the environment? it sucked, but i want to know what it was called. Wacky Races-solid. that dog that would always laugh at his evil master when his oh so wacky plans were foiled. haha. good times.

Dexter's Lab - superb. I think the Cartoon Network was at its peak in the mid-90s.

ah thank you. i hated that so much, i'd be pissed when it would come on.
and yeah i agree, cartoon network really hit an amazing peak during the 90's. i watched it slowly degrade until i eventually gave up completely on it.

I had (have) a soft spot for The Angry Beavers. The dynamic between the stupid dumb brother, Dagget, and the sophisticated, sometimes Euro-trash, Norbert, was perfect IMO. They also had some very psychedelically inspired episodes, going so far as to use words like "trip-a-delic." Plus, they made episodes into two 10/11 minute segments. Check out the following (psychedelic) clip, with what sounds like Will Ferrell's voice...

Do you watch Adult swim? Their daytime programming isn't as good as it was, but it still has a few gems like the ones I mentioned before.

Angry Beavers was great, I loved when they stayed up late watching cheesy horror movies then thought the crawling spleen was after them I dl'ed the whole series earlier this year

I don't anymore. I'll check it out though. I've heard the boomerang network still shows a lot of those kinds of shows, but i've never watched. I'll give it a shot.

its boxxy. you will find that the videos overall vibe is quite the opposite of the one you get from the avatar (which has no sound)

Now that I think about it, that's true for pretty much all of television, particularly cable television.
I blame MTV's "The Real World" for most of that. It set off the rash of "reality" programming that has infected everything from Cartoon Network to the Sci-Fi Channel, to the History and Discover channels.
I would say mid 90's to 2000 was the golden age of Cable Television.
