No shit... what does weed have to do with psychedelics? It's like the complete opposite.
actually Weed has psychedelic properties and many classify it as a psychedelic. I know it's not a strong one at all like LSD or mushrooms but it has those properties. But I was just merely pointing out that if I react that way on weed around a large amount of people mabey its the same way with other drugs.
In the context of overcoming shyness and social anxiety, I wouldn't classify weed as a psychedelic. Weed is something to wind down the day with, coming off a hard day of work. Sure you can smoke shitloads of hash oil and get visuals, but you can get visuals from huffing gasoline, drinking cough syrup, etc. I'm talking classic indole hallucinogens... the drugs that you get nervous before dosing up. These are the ones that have the chance to improve your life. Weed is on par with beer imo.

I have to disagree with you there, I find cannabis to be psychedelic. It just isnt as peculiar and earth shaking as LSD for example but then LSD isnt anywhere near as earth shattering as DMT.
These are all different breeds of horses with unique sets of attributes. I find cannabis to be a great relaxation, music enhancement tool and also a great motivator. It seems to help me see the "up" side of things which helps my social anxiety quite a bit.
Anyways,
I did feel some anxiety relief from LSD however your past and culture tend to reassert themselves as time passes. Its more of a tool to aid in your own self therapy sessions than what could be considered a cure.
Its just something that may help with self therapy due to its analytical nature but social anxiety is something that takes more than a few tabs to deal with. Everybody is different of course but this is something that is ongoing and takes the right approach during the sober period as well as when you are tripping.
You may win some battles and face some demons while you are tripping but this is an ongoing war.
Consider each time you trip to be its own therapy session and be sure to spend plenty of sober time integrating each experience.
Rome wasnt built in a day. The more you add to your "model" the more tools you will have to aid you in dealing with your anxiety or any other mental "problem".
Different experiences like Mescaline and Ayahuasca should also be part of the "program".
I'm sorry I wish I could articulate this better but I think I came sorta close to what I wanted to say here.

Yeah weed does different things to different people. I know people who get hyper as fuck after they've smoked a joint and some people who turn to mush afterwards. For myself, It doesn't make me tired at all, but it doesn't make me more awake either. I just stay the same. And if i smoke a large amount of weed I find I can actually trip of it quite a bit, so to me MJ is a psychedelic.

What im saying is if you can actually access pure THC, and consume it properly, you will see the psychedelic that herb contains. It can literally make you hallucinate with your eyes open, in a stronger fashion that even high dose LSD has been able to do for me. I could handle high dose LSD, the hallucinations from high dose (purish) THC were simply so overwhelming and earth shattering, I puked my brains out. Every single person who I've pushed to their "limit" with the OG kush oil have all experienced the same thing. After you puke the trip becomes fucking wonderful, similar to that of mescaline. Oh, and when you are actually consuming the good shit the right way it lasts 4-6 hours, as opposed to burnt h herbs which usually have an hour peak, hour comedown. (for me at least)

My first time shrooming was something that helped me get over anxiety/self-consiousness because I knew that I was gonna be acting a motha fuckin fool and eventually end up in some type of public setting. I just decided to not give a fuck about anyone else around me because I knew it would probably drive me outta my fuckin mind wondering what everyone was thinking. I was just having fun running around the park like a little kid, and thinking my body had melted into jell-o and was gettin smashed around the inside of his car cause the bass was rattleing so hard and just laughing at all the people in the cars next to us at stoplights.
The first time I did salvia was probably one of the biggest things that help too though. My homies cousin asked me if I wasnted to try it and loaded me the hit with a lil peice of dro for a screen. We where sitting out side on his front porch in the middle of the day with a full house (kinda having a 'day' party I guess you could call it). I took my hit and as soon as I exhaled it immediatedly felt like I was on one of those fucked up carnival rides that not only spins around in circles really fast but also has the individual carts that spin around. I seriously thought everyone was spinning the chair I was in around cause everything was moving so fast I start telling them to stop spinning me and was drooling all over myself--it was pretty crazy. I guess I was screaming stop pretty loud cause everyone that was there was looking at me in this fucked up state laughing their asses off, talkin shit and recording it on their phones. I finally came out of it, smoked a cigarette, hit the bong, then told them "load me another one of those 'saliva' things." Everyone was trying to talk me outta it because of how 'stupid' and 'retarded' I looked. I was just like 'fuck that, I don't give a fuck how stupid I look anymore, that was amazing'. It was fuckin awsome. Nothing like hitting a bubbler and having your own personal amusment park.
-------------------- "You might see me one day on Mush, the fuck out...Shroomsvile baby. Don't wanna see nothing but colors and stars and shit..." - "Sick of you always calling asking 'where have I been?', I'm at the same place bitch, getting high with my friends." "I'm holding my gut when the rush hits, it's subtle at first--the worst is done This ain't nothing, until my blood is pumping, shit hits like percussion And the club suddenly changes into something it wasn't..."

Though I do agree with the "being careful" part of going into a session with goals I think it's still extremely rewarding. And also that piece of reality is nice to have to hold onto if things get funky. Again though I'm the type of explorer who doesn't enjoy making some other entity responsible for my well being during a session because I decided to go down the rapids without a raft. However I will give you some credit and say it's nice to leave some room for the unexpected stimulation. Though I really strongly feel there that a "lame trip," has nothing to do with going in with too much expectation and preconceived planning of mindset.

And I just read the post discussing different effects pot has on seperate people. While I'm not discrediting that it's possible pot might have different effects on different people you do have to becareful saying some people get tired from pot and some people get hyper, or any other variance of effects in relation to a plethra of people. The reason is because of the 2 main distinct kinds of pot, sativa and indica. If I remeber sativa gives you a high with energy and the indica does more of a stoned weighed down and relaxed buzz. Then of course there's the mixed variaties of the 2 where If I'm not mistaken some of the popular "brands" of pot come into play such as white widow, northern lights, purple haze, blueberries, and all the other ampsterdam favorites are known.

Weed tends to make anxiety worse in the long term, even though it may take the edge off in the short term.
Psychedelics, used therapeutically, have unlimited potential for rooting out anxiety, OCD, flaws in self-concept.
Unsupervised psychedelic use, the only kind I have experience with, can go either way. If you have the right mindset you can break through any roadblock to self-cultivation. Especially on acid, social anxieties are the farthest thing from my mind and I feel more at home in my own skin than at any other time. But the question is whether these kinds of feelings will last after you return to normal consciousness. Especially in the case of lower doses, you will probably go right back to your old habits within days.

They have no other protector than you. Please bless them that they may achieve the omniscient state of buddhahood. With the power of evil karma gathered from beginningless time, sentient beings, through the force of anger, are born as hell beings and experience the suffering of heat and cold. May they all be born in your presence.

Pot is absolutely a psychedelic, though that doesn't mean the psychedelic effects show themselves in everyone. When I started smoking pot (several years ago and several years before my first trip), it induced in me the same psychedelic thinking patterns (in some ways) as can be brought on by a trip.
Some excellent replies in this thread. Really inspiring.
Personally I've been continuously and gradually overcoming my social anxieties through effort of exposure and through increasing my self-confidence. Exposure is necessary with or without drugs. You just have to practice and not give it up. My self-confidence has been increased as well by simply by gaining experience in life, and continuously reevaluating who I am, who I wish to be, where I'm headed, and all that stuff. I started this process well before I had ever taken any drugs. Weed helped my zoom past some roadblocks. Mushrooms (more recently) did the same once again.
The point is that personal growth of this sort is a never-ending process (if you're doing it right). You can be your best self with or without drugs, but I do believe that these drugs are tools that can be used to achieve unprecedented leaps in personal progress. They can also be used incorrectly and turn you into an anxious paranoid crazy person. Never forget to live in the real world, evaluate your progress and direction regularly, and you should be alright.

oh most definitely starting with herb, then moving to shrooms, and finally acid, i have noticed a consistent change in my confidence level and a dropping in my shyness.
i also tend to be much more focused after a trip, and find i have greater consistency on a skateboard

amen acid amongst society is way easier to cope than mush, gives me this arrogant sense of togetherness like "fuck yeah! we're all one so fuck it lets just enjoy any and everything that happens! noing really matters!" but fungi tends to realistically evaluate the surronds, its on the contray, the devils advocate this is in a fairly intense social setting ie. nightclub, party. too much visual and audible information to process, cant concentrate n jus let goooooo...meditating with a 3 person max group limit in nature is best for mush i think for quility of experience... LSD better for letting go where there's heaps of sensory flooding, close friends house parties are my favourite, bein by ya self on acid is asking for a psychotic break of some sort, it can be done but bot often... i find DMT simultaneously neither/neutral and both of those reactions combined, like could it easily be done in public but you'd chose not to, sorry bout the ranting had to het that of me chest, hahaha!

weed made me politer then MDMA made me realize that the lowest common denominator is still one whole and equal to you person. and mushrooms taught me the magic of hugs.
