what is causing these twisty funny stems?
    #14296817 - 04/15/11 05:33 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I dunno I can't cmoplain about the yield, 17gal mono and it was wall to wall shrooms, but the fruits seem a little smaller than Im used to and definately less dense.  Here is a pic, does anyone know what causes this? is it environmental? IE can I fix it or is it genetic? Regardless I took 5 clones out of this cluster because I want to replicate those results even if the shrooms look sickly lol.

These are not huge by any means the cluster shown was approx 5 inches tall x 5 inch wide x 3.5 inch deep I forgot to throw in the lighter for reference. the largest cap was maybe 1.5-2 inch diameter.

But I think its easy to see how they are so twisted and funny looking on the stems.

Thanks.

I've not personally experienced this before, but I know a common cause for "Messed up" looking mushrooms is an excess of CO2 (lack of proper air flow).  The only thing that would make me think otherwise is the relatively normal looking caps.  Maybe vent more?

Strain related.  If you cloned it, then the clones will have the same pattern.  They're pretty cool looking, actually.

Thanks for the answers guys, I suspected genetics but it was a MS tub and they all turned out that way hence why I thought it might be environmental.

Well I guess I'll have more data after I grow out the clones.  Like I said can't complain about the yield so I'm happy to repeat.

I thought perhaps since there were just so many that they might have used up all the water?

thanks again to all
