pressure cooking

i have a friend of this girl i know and she is going to do some pressure cooking...is it important to have a rack so that the jars do not directly touch the bottom of the cooker??

Yes, you must keep the jars from touching the bottom of the cooker. 

The heat on the bottom of the cooker is too strong for the jars, they will crack and break. 

Use the rack, or towel.  I would go more with the rack because if a piece of lint from the towel clogs your relief valve, you'll PC will blow up :smile:
