Is it possible for an individual to know something without being able to prove it ?

At first you may think not, but just think a little more.

Yes.  People 'know' unproven stuff all the time.  Proving something is actually very difficult and is very rarely done (and it always relies on axioms which are never proved).

I guess Im not sure what you mean by 'know something'?

You cant prove it, but around here some real suggestive evidence would be to see what percentages of their posts are in the magical mystery forum.

  The bashing of that forum is so tired.  This attitude isn't going to change anybody's mind anyway, so what's the point?

Everything is subjective. Even what proof necessary is and or required, and to what degree is completely dependent on the subjective measuring stick the individual has himself decided upon.

Therefore, what is sufficient proof for me, is not sufficient proof for you.

Individual by individual.

Do you know when you love someone in the deepest and most sincere place in your heart? Can you prove that? (good movie)

Can you prove the ground you walk on? how?

Can you prove that you know you are, that you exist? How do you prove it? How is it you know know you exist? Do you use facts? Faith? Beliefs? Imagination?

Interesting, thanks. Brings to mind an idea...

Isn't it a matter of perspective only anyway? The idea something can be proved or not proved? That it needs to be? Doesn't shit like, have a decided tendency to you know, change? An idea held at the time, while being certain then, doesn't ACTUALLY extend into the future, and therefore paint a picture in concrete. Change the perspective, change the reality right? reality = perception.

Thanks for the fun question

of course, feeling.

this is where communication comes in, language.

we communicate our feelings.

our feelings generate thoughts (or maybe the other way around?), which are then communicated from one to another through communication.

the better you are at conveying your feelings, the better communicator you are, but before you communicated your feelings someone else didn't necessarily KNOW EXACTLY how you felt.

follow me?
