I don't suggest tring to sterilize bird seed in a microwave. I am pretty sure that bird seed needs to be pressure cooked to kill all of the contaminates.

grinding seed is bad idea...by itself.. by mixing w/ verm is okay. just go w/ steeped seed and cook it in pressure cooker. must be pressure cooked!! or dred!!
