First time poster! Have a PF-Tek question

I have read the following material;
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11585613/fpart/1 http://www.fungifun.org/English/Pftek http://www.shroomery.org/8409/PF-Tek
This is my first time growing mushrooms. I ordered two syringes of "Amazon".
I am using a pot/lid to sterilize my jars (half pint, wide mouth). I steamed the Jar (attempting to do one successfully before I do more) for two hours. I used 1/4 cup BRF, 1/2 cup vermi and 1/4 cup water as my medium. I also used two layers of tin foil to cover the jar and protect it from the steam (so as to not alter water content).
I steamed the jars, 2 hours, let them sit over-night and inoculated them the following day (4 days ago, 4/10/11), also note I used 2 CC's of spore solution. When inoculating them I used a lighter to sterilize the needle (red hot) and I also shook the needle (break up spore clumps).
I do not see any growth in my jar. Now I have a few questions.
1. I have left the tin foil on top of the jars. Do I need to remove the tin foil? 2. When steaming do I need holes in the tin foil?
Is there a reason I see no growth?

If you followed the tek, you should be getting results in a few days.
You do not need holes in the tinfoil when steaming, it pretty much just acts as a protective barrier to keep excess water from flooding into the jars. And leaving the tinfoil on after inoculation shouldn't really affect too much.
Wait it out and see if there is any growth with in the next few days. The second batch of PF jars I inoculated took nearly a week to show signs of colonization, yet the first batch took 2 days.
Patience is key :]

Take the foil off you could be blocking GE causing the jars to stall

Ive had spores take 3 weeks to germinate. Sometimes if I know Im getting impatient, Ill put the jars in a box, tape it up, put a date on it and then slide it under the bed. That way it forces my patience. If I get bored, I just start up a new project/grow.

Temperature helps it grow faster, if it's around 78 it grows very well in my experience.

Unfortunately, I am out of a job right now otherwise I would build an incubator. The ambient temp of my house right now is ~65-68*F.

Are you sure there's actually spores in that syringe? I bought my first syringes from spore store and after wasting $25 and a few weeks, I gave up on waiting for shrooms to grow from tap water and bought from a vendor.

I see small tissues in the syringe, I assume these would be spores but I could be wrong.

spores are microscopic and not visible to the naked eye. clumps of spores appear as little black specks. if you have something that appears tissue in a spore syringe, something's very wrong. can you post pictures?

No, it's very small and translucent. I have been reading up and it seems that sporestore is a scam. So, lesson learned only order from shroomery vendors.

On top of the fridge will usually give you a few extra degrees to help out.
