 Suspected to be Inocybe sp.

There's three here which I suspect are of different species; they may also be Inocybe sp., but I'd be keen for other people's perspectives on this.
And here is a single specimen of a patch of Amantia Muscaria

hey everyone. Getting excited for this season already!
I know I should be looking temperature wise for max 15ish - min 6ish and consistent (5-7mm a day) rain fall. This is consistent with what the last few days have been around one of my spots according to the BOM website.
Given that it keeps up with this cold weather and rainfall would it be hoping for too much to find some actives in around 1-2 weeks? The season usually starts later but given this wet/cold autumn and summer, fingers crossed

There are already quite a few reports of subs being found in tassy, vic and nsw. It's just the beginning of the season so you may have to venture further to find the first subs. I wouldn't think it unrealistic to expect some subs in the next 2 weeks. In the mean time go out and get some pics of inactives to post up here!

Tonnes of slippery jacks up north of adelaide and lots of non-blue staining gyms, think I found a galerina but only really thought about it later, had me fooled thinking it was a sub until I picked it
Lots of field mushrooms around everywhere too

If you mean active pics from Aus give it about 2-3 weeks before you'll see the usual flurry of finds, as for edibles and inactives I think you'll be seeing heaps from now onwards pretty much

Hey ya Iron Man. I won't take that bet cuz I reckon you're on the money ;-). We're South Australians, we don't need no fandangled 'Actives' thread to post our pics Old habbits die hard ay?
I got away into the forest over the weekend for a spot of camping. The fireban has been lifted early and the hills are smiling .

I have been tempted to look at my favourite spots as well. Last year when I first found some was amazing (thanks to the advice on this forum thread) was so fricken exciting. I hope that it is a April starter this year.

will definitely see some subs this month, I can sense it... Infact I predict it will be the earliest season ever. previous earliest was April 22 in 2006. question is where will subs fruit first this year south or north? down south has been colder and both sides have got decent rain. so I reckon the Fleurieu is a good bet
as a matter of interest where do most people here find their subs? north, south, suburbs, pine forests, woodchipped landscape beds? the two most highly productive spots I go to is one way down south in a large pine forest plantation. the other one a well known spot up north in a pine forest valley.

It has been such a fast year, seems like only a few weeks ago it was the start of the 2010 season (my first) and I knew nothing...
Fingers crossed that my spots don't get marauded like they did towards the end of last year's season, made me very sad.
Would love to find some new ones however, bring on the rains and the hunting! Can't wait

I also need to find some new spots. As I stated in the 2010 thread my only good spot got trashed by some very careless pickers. This is at the southern end of the range in eucalyptus forest and produced lots of shrooms. Other spot is way down near the tip of the fleurieu though It only produced 3 subs. A special spot to me though as they were the first ever subs I found! All subs i found last season were on their last flush. Great to be able to get into it from the start of the season this year. Exploring new areas of forests and bushland is half the fun of mushroom hunting:)

Hi fellow mushroomers, first post, first proper season. Have been out to some fields recently to see whats happening, came across this massive mushroom, does anyone know what it is? It has a massive streak of blue that caught my interest.
Also, what's the proper etiquette regarding picking? is it best to leave smaller ones to develop?

It's a bolete, probably in the genus Boletus

Yes, you should only pick mature specimens and leave the smaller ones to grow. That way they have a chance to release their spores.

Most amazing day today. Started off quite good finding 2-6 Fly's at a time, and then I stumbled upon an area where there were easily over 1000 of them. Yes, literally over 1000!!!! The last picture showing many of them only shows a tiny amount to what there was! Can't wait for the actives to start up
