Well folks, after a successful fruit reap I was wondering : 1) How long do you let the casing rest b4 dunking?
2) Do ALL the aborts need to be removed 1st?
3) How long should a 12'' x 8" x 5" be dunked for? It's a Brazil on rye tray. Thanks all!

hello there I know nothing about your question but you my friend have several answers for me if you are willing of course. I want to grow using the mono tray tek. And was wondering how big can I go with the tray? I see some people just throw a trash bag down and use the whole tub, what is that all about? I am looking for as close to easy as possible. I see you have success with what you are doing. If you could shed some light on the topic that will be great.

You can dunk it immediately after harvest. Make sure you remove all aborts. Dunk it for 24 hours, imo. Make sure you place a weight on it to hold it down forcefully in the water.

Good Morning!
i dont let my casing rest, why would i? im going to shock the hell out of it when i dunk it anyway.
removing aborts in my opinion is not required, but it does lower the chances of them rotting and contam sitting in. even though i have yet to ever see a mushroom actually rot on a substrate or casing..
are you fruiting on cased grain? i found dunk times change with different substrates, along with the size of substrate.
i dunk between 3 and 5 hours will do the trick, you can leave pins on the casing or substrate if u dunk for less than 3 hours.
as a matter of fact im about to dunk two tubs now, but i dont case, and i use monotubs, WAY easier to dunk than a tray, in my honest opinion.
good luck!

Thank you (to myco...not the thread jacker). Most of them were removed, but the really tiny ones are a bitch. Are they easier to remove after dunking maybe?

To be candid, I leave the really tiny aborts that are hard to remove as well as the previous poster. That said, you definitely want to try to remove them all, but don't kill yourself. The casing will still flourish.
I would definitely suggest dunking for 24 hours. 5 hours may be enough, but 24 does not hurt and definitely ensures full hydration.

I'm using cased trays of Brazil on rye berries wanfungi. I think I'll split the difference and try a 12 soak. Thanks for the input. As always, it's much appreciated!
