Help me diagnose my cacti skin disease!

So a fair number of my cacti have been attacked by a nasty skin problem. I imagine it must be some kind of bacteria or something. Most of the damage happened while I was out of state for a few months. I want to stop it before it gets any worse.
Here are the pictures

do you guys have any idea what is causing that and what I could use to stop it from spreading. You can see it attacks several kinds of cacti. I think I'll need some kind of systemic solution?

looks like some kind of fungus developing inside. are they squishy or firm to the touch?
I've had something similar which consumed the cactus inside leaving the outer shell almost intact

they are still very firm. The callouses are hard. you can see in this picture the skin eventually starts to flake off
i can peal the callouses off but it leaves the inner green flesh exposed. Also once the brown reaches an areole it will never produce an offshoot. It callouses underneath the spines.

ok then it's not that fungus my cactus had since they weren't that hard. peeling is just a call to spreading it more, I'd say keep them separated from your other cacti and start painting them with oil-based fungicides.
I say oil based 'cos water based ones IMO have too much of a chance to hydrate fungi rather than to kill them in a situation where live tissue instead of soil is involved. you'd also try neem oil first if you've got it on hand.
