Transcendent Man - Anyone see this movie?
    #14286626 - 04/13/11 08:56 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

This movie is basically about transhumanism, fascinating stuff.  I hope he's right about reaching immortality in my lifetime.

yeah i saw it. really cool man. it's about the future & transhumanism :feelsgoodman:

i don't think we should live forever though. living forever would be like being stuck in a dream without being able to wake up

we all need to remember who we are at some point so we can start a new dream

Yeah I've thought in the past that at the moment of death we relive and remember our life in it's entirety and that's really what we're doing right now. Yes I was high as hell when I realized that.

Alright i'm sorry but this guy is not only a joke, but he's a tool too.

Consciousness by machines?

How many people have taken an Artificial Intelligence class?

Then you'll know this is a joke. Show me a robot that can do your dishes. You can't. A dishwasher doesn't count. I mean a robot that washes them, dries them, and puts them away.

Intelligence has a very high level of complexity. Stupidity has an even greater complexity. Love is irrational and we cannot emulate it.

You know those boxes you enter the letters in that have the strikes through? We can't even get computers to read those. Thats why they use them. Computer vision isn't all that advanced.

I really don't see this happening. Especially not in the suggested time frame.

looks excellent, I will check it out

but yeah... I do feel like death is important.  I'm not sure I'm ready to be Lazarus Long.

makes sense though, cuz the only time there is, is right now.

feels now man

Maybe this whole transhumanism thang and singularity thang, is just a way of dyin'

what if there was a virtual machine that everyone hooked up into and basically experienced EVERYTHING and that would be an overload and i guess we would have to relive our lives in it's entirety and maybe even everyones lives in their entirety all at the same time. :strokebeard2:

maybe transhumanism is an inevitability and we will just have to do thangs along with it.

maybe we are already living inside a matrix program, and this singularity thang is just a way to create another matrix program

within a matrix program within a matrix program ad infinitum

eternally doin' thangs

i think we're the a result of a simulated RPG game some extra-dimensional alien race invented a long time ago and forgot about it (or got bored)

It doesn't put them away. It has some recognition.

But they set that robot up for each and every object. You saw the model.

I mean a robot you could place in any kitchen that could do all of the dishes.

Not some dummy lab where its all setup. When you make something simpler than reality its a "toy model" not the full scale real deal.

I promise you that robot cant walk into anywhere and just sense all the dishes, clean them, and put them away.

Laundry is much easier than dishes. Dishes have different shapes. They're hard to hold and easy to break.

Computers aren't progressing as nearly as fast as you'd think.

Computer Architecture hasn't made much of a move since Pentiums lol. If you know how the architecture works you'll realize the new processors are a bunch of fucking pentiums put together.

People like to make all kinds of crazy claims.
