Tripping in dreams, waking up, lingering effects?

So, last night I had an interesting dream.
I dreamt that I was at a concert. I went to the bathroom and decided to eat 5 grams of dried shrooms that I just magically happened to have in my pocket (dream mentality, I didn't question it lol). When I went back out, I realized that the concert was over and I'd have to go home (kinda defeated the whole point of shrooming at a concert, but again: dream mentality). I didn't want to start tripping while I was driving, so I took the bus. Just as the shrooms started to kick in, I looked around at my setting (filthy bus driving through deserted streets at night) and started to freak out about what would happen once I reached the full peak. That's when I woke up.
All I got during that short time of 'dream tripping' were only the visuals, and even that for a brief moment before I woke up, scared of how much more intense things would get.
But here's the interesting part: when I woke up, the visuals were still there! Well, sort of. They weren't animated like they are when I trip, nor were they all over the place, just in the center of my vision. They looked exactly like the after-images of patterns would look after staring at them for a long time. Except I didn't have to stare at anything! I was just sleeping, dreaming about tripping, and woke up, seeing the same patterns I was seeing just seconds ago in a dream.
These 'visuals' only lasted for a few seconds and were completely faded just a minute later, but the memory of it was very vivid and the ability of the brain to produce such an experience just from a dream really fascinated me.
I've also had a different dream a long time ago where I smoked a bunch of weed, woke up, and felt blazed. That only lasted a few seconds as well.
Has anything similar ever happen to anyone else?

I dreamed that i took a huge rip of DMT at the house that i grew up in, the weird part is i had never taken DMT yet. A few years later, i have had my first experience and it felt just like it did in the dream...
Anyone that smokes DMT knows that the initial feeling you get, before gettined blasted to zyborg, is way different then any other drug.

hahah thats funny shit,
a few nights ago i remember i had a dream that i was sitting on the couch watching tv with my mom and out of nowhere she looks at me and says "do you want to try some peyote? We can smoke some.."
and i can remember the feeling inside of me that was sooooooo happy to hear her say that because peyote is the one thing i want to try soooo bad that have never been able to, not mescaline but actually a peyote ceremony.
and i remeber her describing what the effects were like to me and then here then boyfriend walked in and she stopped talking like nothing happened and ignored me and i woke up...
too bad she dont got no peyote for me haha

Yea dreaming of taking drugs is soo wierd. Never had lingering visuals after waking up though.
I remember when I got the news that tomorrow I was going to try 2C-B for the first time. That night before I fell asleep I couldn`t take my mind away from what`s going to happen the next day.Anyway I dreamt that I took the drug, and tripped my balls off.Just it`s a different euphoria. And it lasted like 5 minutes. The next day when I took 2C-B I had a blast. The visuals were not the same, yet the bodyhigh and the euphoria resembled the dream I had last night. That made me think of the brain`s anticipation potential and it`s ability to fill in things.

No alcohol that day, though every time I smoke pot, I get mild CEVs, perhaps my brain's just overly visual haha
And Damkina, that's really interesting. The day before my first shroom trip (which was also my first ever trip), I had a dream about that day. The dream trip was nothing like the real trip though haha but it was still interesting.

I've definitely taken drugs in dreams and woken up in altered states. The official phrase for that state is Hypnagogia of which visions, images and sensations are common. Whether the mind can effect you to the point where you can wake up tripping, or with the "after-effects" of tripping in a dream... I believe so, absolutely. The mind is the most powerful tool we have. Dreams are uncharted territory in human exploration, and we are just beginning to comprehend our potential.

^ same here.
Just the other night I was at a festival in my dreams, Hunter Thompson came up to me and I asked him if he had any of that RIP liquid L that was going to go around this summer in honor of Owsley...
He smiled yes, I do... Whipped out a jug and poured it all over my open palms and I started lapping it all up with my tongue. It starting to come on hard and I yet again had a dream I was tripping.
When I woke up I felt exactly like I waas on L...

i used to be so fearless when it came to ingesting psilocybe subaeruginosa, like way too mushhhh... i got close to an O.Z of dried powder n it was pretty just as hectic as any nn-DMT breakthrough ive had, psilocin breakthrough possibly? ever since then i pick mush at least once per night in dreamland, and if i dont im just under the impression that ive ingested them or are about to shortly... i had a DMT dream too, dont know via which route. it wasnt the same though, felt the same as a 20-30mg dose but different visuals, it was like i was looking at a heap of fluorescent commercial building signs/logos on an average street, but as the onset picked up the signs rearranged to make a desktop computer screen, with the signs making the shortcut links and the sign/logoless buildings as the background, start button included...cooked as

I want a trip dream, or a dream trip. That sounds pretty fucking cool. Were any of you ever lucid in these dreams? That would be interesting, plus it would be a nice place to test heroic doses

yea man, i was thinking the same shit! after shrooming around 5 times my dreams ahve gotten crazier if you know what i mean, when you shroom it feels like your dreaming like inception and i dream that im eaating mushrooms and that im tripping, so i think my dream is a really bad ass trip. kinda like the movie inception.
really hard to tell if your in reality after youve shroomed shrooming takes you away fromt he normal like so sometimes it s really hard to tell if your dreaming or not

My dreams are always so much more fun than waking reality, sometimes they are scary though! But its only occasionally I wake up and I'm relieved its all 'just a dream'. Sometimes I actually tell myself while I'm in a dream that it is indeed all just a dream.
I wonder though just how much of our dreams we remember, maybe its only a tiny % we might miss some epic one's and not even know.

Due to my recent obsessing with trying to obtain lucy i've had like 2-3 dreams a week about tripping acid. In one of these i was driving my car and my entire world exploded into a world of colorful mountains and rainbows. I remember one night i even woke up and had three hallucinations. A few visual ones where i saw bright flashes of light in my bedroom and then an auditory one where i swear to god i heard my mom speaking to me but both my parents where off in bed. i've never tripped before either so no way it's flashbacks or anything drug induced

Good post
I can remember a few dreams going 2 a whole new level after thinking I had taken something in the dream (I could never really remember the act of taking anything, just kind of knew that I had) & from it I can remember some very psychedelic headspace & experiences. I find I have better dream recall when I run back through my dreams in the morning while laying in bed, sometimes I fall back to sleep in a more lucid state if I have already woken for a short time. I can recall my most memorable & lucid dreams from early mornings after dozing in & out of sleep.
"The trick is, to combine your waking rational abilities, with the infinite possibilities of your dreams... if you can do that, you can do anything"
Oh & as for waking up feeling im in an altered state... That happens regularly, but I think its more often than not the effects of standing up too quickly for me, rather than feeling like im tripping while awake & not actually on anything.

I can believe it, I became obsessive about the search for mushies and tripping even before I had ever tripped or even seen psycadelic mushroom species, in my dreams I experienced what must have been imagined trips that were created in my head from descriptions of the psycadelic experience I had read here online.

yes, the scary part is that i was awake for those three hallucinations. unless i was somehow caught between the dream state and reality. but i was clearly in my room after waking up in the middle of the night when i heard that voice and saw the lights

Last night I had a dream that I ate three grams of mushrooms and took a threshold dose of LSD. I tripped like I would from the mushrooms, but with the added stimulation of the acid, It was a blast. When I woke up, I had that feeling I always get the morning after a trip. This has happened to me a few times. I guess it's like a flashback.
