Hello everyone,
I happened to have a few extra cooling computer fans left over from making a magnetic stirrer and tacked it onto the side of one of my monotubs. Would this be okay? If I had to guess I would say its okay but I'm not an expert and still a grasshopper, I just don't know if it opens the cakes up to contams and what not.
I have the fan sucking the air out of the chamber, so no air is blown directly onto the cakes/mushrooms (not sure if that matters or not).
Here are the pics:

I like it man but right of the bat its too low in the tub. Second I would have it on a timer.
The point of the mono is to allow the fungus to create its own environment so it can maintain istself and if that fan is constantly running it's gonna be loosing too much moisture way too fast.
I keep a fan on at all times in my room and the monos have polyfill stuffed loosely in the holes. This does me good but to each his own.

I recommend to use an air pump or a humidifier. I think your construction decreases the humidity too much.

As you pull air out of the tub, other air must replace it. That air has to come from SOMEWHERE, right?
It'll likely come from the not-quite-airtight seal between the tub and the lid. Unless you have that entire structure filtered, the air won't be reliably clean.
TL:DR Yes, it'll likely open your substrate to contaminants.

monotub
get an external fan, and put it on the far side of the room from your tub. as stated above, your plan will cause more harm than good.
you mentioned "cakes," so you don't even want a monotub. you want a SGFC.
