DON'T EAT THEM...
But orange-ish/tan mushrooms with purple/red bruising and what appear to be rusty gills in the picture...

...they look like a bit like some of my dried G. junonius or luteus from my collections. But DON'T EAT THEM, there's a good chance I'm wrong.

this is more disappointing than anything. i've got a couple locals that have more experience coming over to help and i'm still planning on calling the seller and see if he can give me any info that seems legitimate.
this camera battery is taking forever to charge. :/
thanks again for the help guys.

they don't seem gyms to me... I could be wrong, but the gill attachment to stem looks free in that image, G. junonius has adnate to subdecurrent gills.

if amanitas, shouldn't they show some veil remnants? Also the cap looks more scaly than warty

i'm not sure what you are talking about in the last couple posts but several of the caps have this white covering over the gills.

i'm still waiting on getting any info from the seller. will post what he says.

cool. thanks. the guy i got them from usually sells other stuff so he gets these from another guy who is supposed to be calling him back with details on the type. one thing that makes me more confident that he's not screwing me over is that he's been in constant contact with me about all of this and not just ignoring my calls even though he could.
this is the perfect weekend for me to try this so i'm going to start off slow with just a few to make sure they work and also don't make me sick.
i'll post up here with how it's going/how it went.
i really appreciate all the help and will be spending more time here lurking and reading than in the past to get more knowledgeable.
also, your smiley collection is fucking great.

I hope you didn't ask "are they gyms?" because dealers will usually tell you what you want to hear.

gill attachment to the stem is one of the criterion for mushroom identification.
you can check it here: http://www.toxinology.com/generic_static_files/images_generic/MD-lamellae_attachment1.gif
on the pictures you took, the mushroom seems to have a free attachment of the gill, in this case the gills won't touch the stem. If it were G. junonius you should see an adnate or sub-decurrent attachment, although they are dry and the image isn't clear enough.
I don't know what's up with that white covering but I'll try to see what it is. For know I wouldn't take it if I were you.

They are gyms. I half suspected it from the beginning but I kept my mouth shut since I've never seen dried gyms and the only dried Mushrooms that I can reliably ID are cubes, Amanita muscaria and libs.
