why do Americans not care about the lying and stealing of billions of dollars that these companies make while the rest of us have to live paycheck to paycheck?
source:http://www.epi.org/economic_snapshots/entry/webfeatures_snapshots_20060621/
In 2005, the average CEO in the United States earned 262 times the pay of the average worker, the second-highest level of this ratio in the 40 years for which there are data. In 2005, a CEO earned more in one workday (there are 260 in a year) than an average worker earned in 52 weeks.
in 2005 the average CEO was paid $10,982,000 a year,
what the hell is wrong with us?

Yeah, it's a mess. Have you looked at the federal budget lately? It's more of a mess..
"Social safety net programs are not spared. WIC, a program that uses federal money to subsidize the food and nutrition needs of children from low-income families, is cut by more than $500 million.
Grants to states that help pay for drinking water infrastructure projects are cut by $1 billion."
but.. "The Pentagon would end up with a boost of about $5 billion above last year's level."

this subject pisses me the fuck off.
or when they cut their contribution on your health insurance after cutting your hours.
or calling you stranger cause they cant remember your fucking name, but if you told them your employee number they would know exactly how much you "cost" them.
i wage an individual war every day.
only problem is, every body esle is so "lucky they have a job" they are to scared to do anything about it.
its ridiculous and thats what makes america go round these days.
like vegas was super cool, lotta free shit, komps.. they took care of customers, then the coporations came in and fucked it all up.

Because I realize that we all are able to create our own reality and we don't have to be paycheck slaves if we don't want to. What makes you think we have to live like that?

""lucky they have a job"
ew, I hate societies view on having a job; everyone I know is thankful they have a job, all people my age 20's think your a loser if you don't. Its redcoulous. people think its ok to work for modern day slave wages and encourage it , by saying thats the way it is

the thing i don't get is why we have to cut all kinds of spending like education, hospitals, parks etc, but yet we continue to fight a war that has run our country into the ground.
it makes no sense.

The tired 'anti-corporation' refrain again? Without corporations your lifestyle you enjoy would be heavily compromised. Yeah, some corporations have questionable business ethics, yes, I will give you that, but analyze what their questionable business ethics are and the means and the end they are there for.
The American businessman and CEO are always targeted for criticism as if the public really didn't know shady dealings were happening in life... it's like a college kid pointing out that Hitler was a bad guy and wanting an A in his sociopolitical studies class.
The world needs corruption otherwise it doesn't turn, if it didn't need corruption, it would have been phased out a long time ago yet it constantly resurfaces in endless forms. The world and life in general isn't some Disney movie where everyone is going to frollock together happily in the woods, or face hardships & wind up happy in the end.
Stop tormenting yourself, because the only way to stop having temper tantrums against the establishment and being mad at CEO's, is to invest some of your creativity and your obvious intelligence into something productive and profitable and become an entrepreneur yourself.
Those $25,000/Wk paychecks wouldn't look so bad if they had your name on it.

I've seen a lot of threads like this lately.
I know your hormones cause you to crave violence and personal power, but let's be honest - just what are your ideas for how the country should be run? How will you make things better? Also, who are you actually trying to overthrow?

OP honestly, cause it makes life wayyy more stressful to dwell on that stuff all the time. Its real easy to say sheeple this and sheeple that, but honestly Ive dwelled on conspiracies and fraud stories for a while and it becomes too much to think about all the time.
It is disgusting though what capitalism creates.

To be fair, I'd argue many of those unfair business practices are built into the very system in which they operate. Economic self-interest in a purely market-controlled economy renders fair business practices a liability.
OP, get into your local politics and work to implement regulations on the financial industry and advocate for campaign finance reform. That's what we actually need. Then we might be able to take our democracy back from the gods of avarice and greed we call corporations. Not a drop of blood needs to be shed.

The argument that we would not enjoy things such as the internet without corporations is flawed, you assume that people living in a hypothetical free market, or gift based economy could not create technological advancements.

I dont see the problem here? If they want to spend that much on their CEO, they can, its THEIR fucking money. You and no one else should have the right to tell them what they can and cant spend it on. Besides that im going to school so i dont have to work PAY CHECK TO PAYCHECK.
Your right we are spending all this money on our military, we are in so many countries. Its complete bullshit, that money could be spent HERE for US. That goes for the drug war as well. That money could be spend HERE for US, not on some victemless user.

i understand nobody is forcing me..
its still the same across the board. even if you do get the fat salary and bonuses, 90% that corporate suite owns you, and your fist born.
ive worked in both family owned and operated and corporate.. i cant wait to go back to a family owned shop..
its nice when people call you by your name in the morning.

for me, I've been in independently owned and corporate, and a good deal of the independently owned have been losing financially, and trying to make it up by guilting me into off the clock labor and lower wages
I think it really comes down to the corporate culture/individual owning the private business

I actually would prefer to work for the government than for corporations, personally, as a high-level research scientist. My dad works at a government lab and he's always been well taken care of. I only want to carry on the family business.
This whole government scale-back we're watching is pretty scary to me. I want to dedicate the scientific skills I'm learning to pure research and the advancement of science, not to helping some bonehead suit pad his paycheck.
