patience is a virtue.

I saw some strophs a couple of weeks ago in Fitzroy gardens. Got me excited - not specifically for that park, as I've never found any subs in there - but for the season in general.

Went for a bit of a hunt after lunch yesterday. No Subs
Amanita Muscaria were fruiting, and a couple of others I don't know anything about.

It certainly looks like them, but I'm not sure about them being in such a huge cluster like that, at least with what I'm used to seeing.

I've seen these clusters before, they are certainly not subs. Subs will grow together but not clumps.

It can happen. Take some prints. I am almost certain they are sub's.
I advise you to make a ID request in the proper forum.

Ok ok ok. From what I've read in handbooks subs don't clump, but clearly thats not the case. The mushrooms I've found that clump and look like that have dark brown stems.
I wouldn't be chewing on them until your 100% they're subs.
Do a spore print and make sure they bruise!!!
I can almost see bruising on that picture, but it's not great quality so I wouldn't trust it.

Generally they won't clump like that, but I've definitely found patches that do in that fashion. Think about the difference in appearance of subs! Sometimes you'll second guess and think, nope no way! Then you realize they just look different. Same could be said for the clumping. But as everyone has safely pointed out, print then post

Look more like a Hypholoma sp. or something being in a cluster like that, could be subs though.

Those aren't subs - I don't know what they are but I think I've seen them around before. They are quite slimy and delicate, and possibly have a hollow stem (if they're what I think they are).

I've found clusters of subs twice as big and heaped as that before. I would most assuredly check them properly instead of abandoning possible subs. I tend to notice that it happens a lot around the start of the season, My patch has a lot of pins and younguns at the moment but in very close proximity, they will undoubtedly clump up if I allow them to grow that big.

I don't think they're subs. I've certainly never seen them in clusters like that, but it wouldn't hurt to investigate them further.
