yes it is sir.
it seems to be flushing every month or so at this point. :headbang3:
this makes me very, very happy.
as of right now i have 2 active gym spots that seem to be flushing regularly. :dancer:
this flush seems to be larger than the last.
this time i am definitely going to spray the patch and hope for the best.
i will keep the thread updated as the pins mature.

thanks everyone for the warm compliments.

as always...

so, check this shit out.
i went for a walk this afternoon to give these little guys a drink and when i happen upon the spot, i see nothing.
i look 5 feet away and notice this:

my heart nearly sank into my stomach. then i got real pissed, then upset and then real pissed again.
i guess some fucking critter decided that my gym pins would make a nice little snack.
it seems as if it ate the 3 larger pins and decided to leave me some evidence, just to kick me in the balls.
i hope the fucker tripped his balls off and decided to run in front of a speeding car.

my backyard is basically all mulch (about 2 year old pine bark nuggets). i broke some of it up with my hands, dug a little hole in the soil and covered the mycelium and what was left of the pins up with the crushed pine bark nuggets and watered. hopefully i can make the best of a bad situation.

the patch flushes quite frequently and i will go back out tomorrow and water it. hopefully i continue to get flushes and produce a nice gymnopilus junonius patch in my backyard.

however, i'm still a little upset about this and couldn't even write about it until now.

peace and love
bloodworm

on the bright side you got a picture of the rooting which is cool.
The animal did a pretty delicate job, and is it still connected to the root in pic 1?

and this species of Gymnopilus probably won't do well in wood chip set up unfortunately

i know. i was super surprised at how clean the little critter dug it out.
mattianyb and i were discussing the same exact thing.
it almost looks like it might have been done by a human.
but why would a human do such a thing?
it had to have been done by an animal just digging for more and deciding he had enough.

i know the species doesn't naturally grow on woodchips, but i figured i was making the best of a bad situation.
hopefully, something will come of it.
slim chances i know but hey, it's worth a shot i figure.

still depressed.
however, at least there is hope and the way i see it i have another flush to look forward to in a month or 2.

peace and love

Absolutely an oak which is the only type of tree I have found Gymnopilus associated with in TX. Your tree looks like a live oak specifically.

Wow, didn't know oaks got such gnarled looking bark. I was going to guess at plane tree.

You live in a very nice area, nice find with the mushies. Sorry they got chomped, but I had a bit of a laugh and thought of Sod's Law.

the tree is definitely alive and kicking but the root that the gyms are/were growing from is dead.
thanks for the info my man.
