In Need of a Good Dehydration Method!

I have at my disposal a fan, some rubbermaid bins, and a fine selection of off brand house hold appliances. Can I make a dehydrator from this, or is there another way that you people recommend?
Yes...I said you people, and you know exactly what I mean by that, you( most applicable ethnic slur here)

i recommend a food dehydrator bought at wally world for around 30-40 bucks.... works great.. dries fruits in under a day, and i use it with no noticable loss of potency... some ppl will say heat hurts them, but less than 24 hours under not to much heat isnt gonna do shit IMO
u cld also build a desiccant chamber really cheaply

while this would be preferable, spending money this month on anything other than food is out of the question . I must exercise my other options until my next paycheck comes. My first flush is a few days away, so I just need a quick on timer before the next.

Dehumidifier and a space heater in the closet always works for drying out large quantities of mushrooms, IME.

I did a search and found this method: http://www.shroomery.org/6253/Cheap-and-Easy-Drying-Without-Desiccant
Has anyone had a good experience with this method? I am thinking that this, followed by a brief trip into an oven at a low temp may get them dry enough. Or if the oven is ill advised, I could just try and use rice which i heard is a low-tec desiccant.

Fan Frying basket Mushrooms
What to do:
Put mushrooms in frying bucket Point fan towards frying basket Turn on fan
Result:
Dry mushrooms in 24 hours.
Thanks. I think I could actually pull this off. I dont have the frying basket, but I have the materials to make any sort of flimsy metal cage =]

Window screen or chicken wire would also work Pete.

Have you tried searching your local Craigslist for a dehydrator? Someone is usually selling or trading one. Or try putting the mush in your tub and fan on top blowing out makeshift dehydrator ?

Put them on a black t-shirt and put a desklamp over them with the fan blowing across em. Impromptu dehydrator.
Any heat source + fan = dehydrator.

I think I am going to try this. Should I put them on a paper towel under the black shirt and fan, or just put them ontop of a black shirt, light them up and fan them?
