My favorite of the videos I posted was the third.

I admire that song from John Lennon because he's a musical genious.
I have to admit that this song makes him look like a hypocrite because he was already a multimillionaire and he's never been in the working class long enough to know the meaning of his own song...
Must of been inspired by someone else.

You really think he's a musical genius?
That's a really fucking loose use of the term "genius".
His music is rather simplistic.

The level of difficulty or complexity of music doesn't equate to how genius it is.
Sometimes the best music is simple, easy listening. Strikes a chord with you, resonates to how you feel etc.
As long as your music moves people in some way you're doing pretty good.

Yeah but that doesn't mean he's a "musical genius"
I think that requires some kind of extreme musical knowledge and prowess which is far beyond your average musician
So far as I can see, John Lennon is just your average musician, if not lower on the scale

i hate this song because it reminds me of some kid i knew in highschool (who was the first person in my group of friends to get a job... it was at mcdonalds).
for some reason he took that as a reason to get egotistical and he would say "well at least i have a job" when we made fun of him for dropping out of highschool. he loved this song, and thought it was like his life story or something.
he was always a prick about dumb shit, and was always wrong about it. he was never a prick for a good reason. eventually one of my other friends got tired of it and kicked his ass while i stood there and watched it happen . he got mad at me for not saving him.

Eh,not really.
You can learn a new language and understand it but still not be able to grasp tough reading comprehensions. That said, you can still use the language to your full advantage, without needing to delve too deep into it.
I'm not arguing about John Lennon, just what you said about simplicity. Sometimes the simplicity is the genius of it.

You're right. Simplicity can be good.
People throw around the term musical genius far too much though.

Music definitely comes to some people naturally, just like some people are destined for great things academically or whatever.
Don't really hear the term musical genius too often tbh.
'Gifted' would be more suited in a lot of cases I'd imagine.

Yeah genius implies extreme talent, beyond the scope of most normally talented people.
How many actual just plain geniuses are there in the world? Probably not very many at all. That is what I'm getting at
Plus in general I think the Beatles are extremely extremely overrated.

Haha,my buddy is a Beatles fanatic whereas I know they're good but I'd never really be in the mood to listen to them much.
He doesn't like to hear a bad word said about them and I showed him a performance at the Rolling Stones circus where basically John left Yoko on the mike and she just screamed into it for a few minutes with no words,it was a travesty. My buddy was sickened and wished I didn't show it to him
I don't think they are overrated really, they've quite a catalogue of songs, pretty much all are decent too. I hate that buffalo bill song with a passion, you think/hope it's over and it comes back with "Hey,Buffalo bill..."
I wouldn't be too much into lyrics,if I was I'd guess I'd like them more.
