East Texas ID request
    #14284870 - 04/13/11 04:17 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Habitat:
Grew out of a small 2 inch hole or indention in the ground surrounded by healthy and dieing grass; found it at the edge of my lawn, east Texas.  Grew out of the soil

Gills:
Color - white but mostly pinkish, they appear to be free.

Stem:
3 to 4 inches long, around 2 cm wide, white, smooth, moist, solid, and thick.

Cap:
Diameter 2 to 3 inches, color - light brownish grey around the outside, towards the center becomes more brown , did not feel viscid, texture felt smooth and moist.

Spore print color: Light brown, maybe even dark gold.

Bruising:
Did not observe any bruising.  The stems did seem to have a few light brown bruises already, but I'm not totally sure.

Other information:
No distinct smell or unpleasant odor.

The black is marker ink, I will use real dark paper next time in case of white spores.  Somewhat fail of a first spore print.

The pink spores and attached gills point to Entoloma. That is a "pink" spore print.

Good call Thinker. These look and act more like Pluteus. I think it's just the angle of the photo and the fold of the cap that makes the gills look attached. I agree...probably Pluteus.

I am leaning towards Pluteus as well. Check to see if there is any wood down there.

By the gill attachment in the first pic, I'm thinking Entoloma. Just:2cents: Even though in the last pic the sticking of the gills to the aluminum foil is indicative of Pluteus.
