small valley in substrate
    #14284751 - 04/13/11 03:56 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Hey everyone. So my substate has been colonizing at a great rate. I looked in today with a flashlight and noticed that the substrate has split down the side and runs from one side of my monotub to the other. It looks like a small valley. Is this going to affect growth in any negative way?

I have split substrates a few times with little effect on yield. You will notice mycelial arms linking the two substrates together if they are not touching but are close together, it's quite fascinating actually.

The substrate is only 6 days into colonizing it never broke in half it just has a crevace running through it. If i push on the side of the tub it kind of joins together but not completely. I just want to make sure that it will still be ok. Thanks for any advice and info from anyone.

How close is your substrate to full colonization?

Your substrate will be fine, let it grow.
