Need some advice on bulk trays
    #14283853 - 04/13/11 01:08 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Hello gentlemen and ladies, just looking for a second opinion and maybe some helpful hints and tips if'n one happens to occur to you.

Today is the day! It's been approximately two weeks since I nocc'd up some poo and coir with corn spawn. My ratio of spawn to substrate was approximately 1/3.

Here's the first one, I think it's ready to start giving me some fruits. What do you think?

Here's the second, I'm unsure if I should give it more time or innitiate fruiting.

And here's the third, I think it needs more time. What do you guys think?

And finally? Should I case these babies?

Thanks,
Rye.

Looks like it was a bit moist and therefore slow to colonize.

I'd give it substantially longer. It looks like it is quite happy. Just needs longer.

And don't case imo. Looks like your top layer is already pretty good.

If you do case, let it colonize completely 100% of the top first, which will be a while yet.

I'll forgo the casing
Do you mean that just the third one needs more time? or all three?

Looks like all 3 could vegetate more to me. Is the top one knotting at all? If it is, then fruit it. But if not, let it veg is my opinion.

What he is trying to say is, you want to wait until you see only white before initiating fruiting. I would wait an additional week to fruit after full colonization.

It's actually worm castings and coir. Mostly coir though. 75% by volume. There is some knotting in the top of the first one.

You're sure it's knots and not the top part of aerial mycelium jutting out?
